Set the leaf-marked objective as your waypoint on the map, then call the Guiding Wind to find your way. If the Onryō armor screen says “Follow the golden ginkgo,” it is pointing you toward story progress that advances the armor at milestones.
What the golden ginkgo leaf means
Guides from NerdsChalk and All Things How describe the leaf as a map icon for a main-story or revenge objective. It marks a destination to pursue, rather than an item hidden in the world. NerdsChalk reports the in-game explanation as: “The Gold Ginkgo leaf represents Atsu’s Hunt. Seek out these locations to track down the Yotei Six.”

How to follow the marker
- Open the map. Find the objective marked with a golden ginkgo leaf.
- Track it or set a waypoint. Select the objective so the game has a destination to guide you toward.
- Call the Guiding Wind. All Things How describes swiping up on the PS5 touchpad to summon it. Controls may vary with settings or updates, so check the in-game controls if that gesture does not work.
- Follow the wind and complete the objective. The leaf guides you to the mission or target; completing that story objective is what moves the relevant progression forward.
Why the Onryō armor says “Follow the golden ginkgo”
When this instruction appears on the Onryō armor, it refers to progress through the story or a relevant target—not to a separate ginkgo-leaf scavenger hunt. All Things How and Shacknews explain that Onryō armor ranks advance at story milestones. Continue the tracked objective and its related story progression to reach the next upgrade milestone.
Onryō armor is different from other armor
All Things How distinguishes Onryō armor from other body armor: the Onryō set advances through story milestones, while other body armor can be upgraded at an armorer using coin and materials. The golden ginkgo instruction should not be treated as a universal upgrade rule for every armor set.

What is confirmed about editions
PlayStation Direct lists a PS5 Collector’s Edition and describes physical contents including a papercraft ginkgo tree. That is an edition bonus, not evidence that the in-game golden ginkgo is a collectible. The product page also identifies a physical Standard Edition; current stock and regional availability can vary.
