Alpha Lab was a limited playtest in 2024 and 2025, not an ongoing code program. Riot later described signup and invitations for Closed Beta, but that was a separate, dated access process—not proof that Alpha Lab codes or beta signups still work today.
Was there an Alpha Lab referral code?
Riot’s official Alpha Lab announcements do not establish an active referral-code system. The Alpha Lab 2 FAQ includes the question “Can I invite a friend to Alpha Lab 2?”, but the retrieved page does not provide an answer. That heading alone does not show that players could generate or transfer public referral codes. Riot’s Alpha Lab 2 overview and FAQ is the source for the event details and that unresolved FAQ question.
Why Alpha Lab codes won’t get you into a current playtest
Riot scheduled Alpha Lab 2 for April 18–20, 2025, in the United States, Canada, and Brazil, on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those dates have passed; the announcement describes a time-limited playtest rather than an evergreen access offer. Riot’s March 27, 2025 announcement lists the event schedule, regions, and platforms.
The first Alpha Lab was also a limited at-home playtest. Riot’s August 7, 2024 announcement told invited players to sign in with the Riot Account named in their access email and said people who registered would be notified when more signups opened later that year. It did not describe a code store or a standing referral program. Riot’s first Alpha Lab announcement explains those original instructions.

How Closed Beta access differed
On July 22, 2025, Riot announced that 2XKO Closed Beta would begin September 9, 2025. Riot described signup and invitations as routes for new players, saying, “We’ll invite new players at the start of Closed Beta and while the beta is ongoing.” That statement was guidance for the 2025 Closed Beta, not confirmation of an open signup or invitation route now. The announcement also described access for some previous Alpha Lab participants under specified PC and console conditions; it does not establish that an old invitation or entitlement works today. Read Riot’s Closed Beta announcement for its original terms.
