What you need before starting
- Complete the Dawntrail main scenario quest Dawntrail.
- Reach level 100 on a Disciple of War or Magic.
- Progress through the Occult Crescent: South Horn storyline, including The Phantom Village and Unfamiliar Territory.
- Register the Dawntrail expansion on the service account you use to play; the relevant content requires it.
The weapon-enhancement series was introduced in Patch 7.25. Square Enix’s Patch 7.25 notes list One Last Hurrah in Tuliyollal (X:17.1 Y:11.8), offered by the Expedition Messenger after completing the Dawntrail main scenario. Follow the South Horn progression through The Phantom Village and Unfamiliar Territory; that progress unlocks the weapon quest.

How to get your first Phantom weapon
- Choose the job you want the weapon for. The initial Phantom weapon is tied to the job used to progress its quest, so accept and complete the relevant steps on that job.
- Go to the Phantom Village. Speak to Lydirceil at X:6.6 Y:7.1 and accept Arcane Artistry once you meet its prerequisites.
- Complete Arcane Artistry. Lydirceil then offers the follow-up quest Forging the Phantasmal.
- Finish Forging the Phantasmal on the same job. The reward is a Phantom weapon for the job used during the quest. Square Enix explicitly says the weapon is based on the job used to progress, and that these quests require the same class or job used when accepting them (Patch 7.25 notes).
How to unlock the final Phantom weapon upgrades
Patch 7.55 adds the current final enhancement questline. After completing A Phantom Reborn, speak to Lydirceil at X:6.6 Y:7.1 in the Phantom Village and accept Under No Illusion. You must be a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic. The official notes describe two enhancement stages involving a variety of duties; at the second stage, you can choose the weapon’s attributes. See the Patch 7.55 notes.
A community-maintained guide lists the 7.55 sequence as Under No Illusion, Phantoms to Fillet, and A Phantom Unveiled, and calls the resulting variants Eclipticum and Occultum. The official notes referenced here do not give that detailed quest sequence or duty-by-duty objectives, so use the active quest journal for the current steps.

Getting Phantom weapons for other jobs
After enhancing one weapon to the first stage, you can obtain another weapon at that stage by trading ecliptic arcanite with Dodokkuli in the Phantom Village (X:6.7 Y:7.1). Ecliptic arcanite is exchanged for Allagan tomestones of mathematics. Once you have enhanced one weapon to the second stage, later weapons can also reach that stage without spending additional items, according to the official Patch 7.55 notes.
A community guide reports a cost of three ecliptic arcanite, at 500 Allagan tomestones of mathematics each, for one additional final-stage weapon: 1,500 tomestones total. The official notes do not state the quantity, so check Dodokkuli’s current exchange before spending tomestones.

Common snags
- Arcane Artistry is unavailable: confirm that you completed the Dawntrail MSQ and progressed the South Horn quests through the required point in Unfamiliar Territory.
- You are getting the wrong job’s weapon: switch to the intended job before accepting and progressing a weapon quest; the quest and reward are job-specific.
- You need exact current upgrade objectives or exchange costs: follow the in-game quest journal and inspect Dodokkuli’s exchange. The official 7.55 notes describe the enhancement stages and exchange system, while the detailed sequence and quantity cited above come from a community guide.
