Catch Abra on Route 24 or Route 25, then raise it to level 16 to evolve it into Kadabra. Trade Kadabra to another compatible game to evolve it into Alakazam; arrange a second trade if you want Alakazam back in your party.
1. Get an Abra
You can find wild Abra on Routes 24 and 25, or obtain one through the Celadon City Game Corner option. The listed Game Corner cost is 180 coins in FireRed, according to PokeTools.

The encounter rates are game encounter-table values, not estimates of real-world odds across a play session. For the route encounters, bring a Pokémon that can weaken Abra without knocking it out, and be ready to catch it before it can escape.
2. Evolve Abra into Kadabra
Raise Abra to level 16. At that level it evolves into Kadabra. If Abra has not evolved automatically, check that it reached the level through a normal level-up and that you did not cancel the evolution.

3. Trade Kadabra to evolve it into Alakazam
Kadabra evolves into Alakazam when traded; there is no level requirement listed for this evolution. The evolution chain is listed by RotomLabs, and Serebii lists FireRed’s method as “Evolve Kadabra.”
- Connect with another compatible game and trade Kadabra to it.
- Let the trade complete; Kadabra evolves into Alakazam as part of the trade.
- If you want to keep Alakazam in your FireRed party, ask the other player to trade it back.
The game references establish that trading is required, but do not specify a connection setup that works for every hardware configuration or release. Check compatibility and available trading options for the version and hardware you are using before arranging the trade.
