Get Identities in Limbus Company through Extraction or, when eligible, a direct purchase in the Dispenser using Sinner-specific shards. To strengthen one, raise its level with combat or Experience tickets, then raise its Uptie tier with Thread and any other resources the game requires. Level and Uptie are separate progression systems.
What an Identity is
An Identity is a playable version of a Sinner with its own combat kit. Project Moon describes the fiction behind them as “A different possibility borrowed from the myriad of dimensions.” Project Moon’s official Limbus Company site gives that framing; for practical purposes, each Identity is a distinct combat option for its Sinner.
How to get Identities
Extraction
Extraction is the game’s gacha route and uses Lunacy. The available banners and featured Identities change, so check the current banner in the game before spending. A beginner overview of Extraction, shards, and the Dispenser explains the routes, but it does not establish which banner is available now.
Dispenser
The Dispenser lets you directly obtain an eligible Identity with the appropriate Sinner-specific shards. This is the more targeted route if the Identity you want is listed and you have enough shards. Eligibility can vary; do not assume every newly released or limited Identity is immediately available there. Check the live Dispenser in your game client.

Duplicates and shards
According to the beginner guide, duplicate Identity pulls convert into character shards. Shards can support direct acquisition and participate in upgrade-related exchanges. The exact rules and quantities may change, so use the current in-game interface to confirm what a particular exchange requires.

How to upgrade an Identity
Raise its level
Leveling improves an Identity’s level and is distinct from Uptie. Identities can gain experience through combat or by using Experience tickets, which provide a direct way to level them. See the Prydwen overview of leveling and Uptie for a general explanation; check the game’s Identity screen for available actions and requirements.
Raise its Uptie tier
Uptie is the tier-based progression system. Thread is its core resource, and the required materials and amounts depend on the Identity and tier. Higher tiers can enhance or upgrade skills and passives, improve speed, or unlock additional kit elements, so Uptie can change how an Identity performs rather than merely its appearance. The Identities reference describes tier effects, while the Thread reference covers the resource.

Check costs before committing resources
Costs vary by Identity and target tier. The Eldritch Tools Manager’s Guide documents a Dispenser and training calculator that can help plan acquisition and upgrade spending. Treat estimates as a planning aid and confirm the required items and totals in the game before committing resources.
