Get a BeamMP AuthKey from BeamMP Keymaster by signing in with Discord, opening Keys, creating a key, and copying its value. Paste that value into ServerConfig.toml under [General] as AuthKey = "your-key". Keep the key private, and set Private = false only when you want the server to appear in the public server list.

What a BeamMP AuthKey is and why you need one
An AuthKey is the credential BeamMP uses to identify your server to its backend. BeamMP’s documentation describes it as necessary for making a public server accessible through the server list and recommends adding one to private servers as well. The key is generated in BeamMP Keymaster rather than inside the game or your server console.

It identifies the server installation to BeamMP. A correctly entered key can still leave a server unreachable if the network or the rest of the configuration is wrong.
BeamMP limits one key to one server at a time. You cannot use the same AuthKey to run two servers simultaneously. If you operate multiple servers, each one needs its own key.

What you need before creating a key
- A Discord account. BeamMP requires Discord sign-in to reduce automated spam.
- Access to the BeamMP Keymaster website and the Discord account associated with it.
- Permission to edit the server’s
ServerConfig.tomlfile. - A safe place to copy the generated key temporarily, without putting it in a public post, screenshot, video, or chat message.
Decide whether the server should be private or listed publicly before you finish configuration. The AuthKey can be present in either case, but the Private setting controls public-list eligibility.
How to get a BeamMP AuthKey
- Open BeamMP Keymaster. Use the official BeamMP Keymaster service in a browser.
- Sign in with Discord. Complete the Discord login flow. If you have more than one Discord account, use the account you intend to manage for your BeamMP servers.
- Open Keys. On the Keymaster home page, select Keys in the left-hand navigation.
- Start key creation. Click the green + button. This opens the form for a new server key.
- Enter a Server Name label. Type a useful label, such as
Home-Test,Community-East, orCreative-Server-2. This label helps you recognize the credential in Keymaster; it is not necessarily the public name players will see in the BeamMP server list. - Create the key. Click Create and wait for the new entry to appear.
- Copy the Key value. Copy the value shown in the Key field, using the copy control when one is available. Treat the copied value as a password from this point forward.
Do not share the key while asking for help. If you need assistance, describe the error and your non-secret configuration values, but remove the complete AuthKey first.

BeamMP server configuration uses TOML syntax. Open the ServerConfig.toml file in the folder used by your BeamMP server and find the [General] section. Put the generated value after AuthKey, inside quotation marks:

Do not add spaces or line breaks inside the key, and do not remove the quotation marks. Keep the setting under [General]; placing it in another section can prevent BeamMP from reading it as intended.

Name = "Test Server"Port = 30814 is the port shown in BeamMP’s example configuration, not a universal requirement for every installation. Use the port selected for your server and make sure your router and firewall use the same value. Likewise, change the example name to the name you want players to recognize.

Editing safely
- Stop the BeamMP server before editing the file so it cannot overwrite your changes on shutdown.
- Make a backup copy of the existing
ServerConfig.toml. - Use a plain-text editor that preserves TOML formatting.
- Save the file with the same filename and extension. Do not accidentally create
ServerConfig.toml.txt. - Start the server again after saving so it reads the new value.
Making the server appear in the public list
The AuthKey alone does not publish a server. In ServerConfig.toml, set:
Private = falseWhen Private = true, the server is not eligible to appear in the public server list. Use the true setting for a closed test or friends-only setup, and switch to false when you intend to publish it.
After changing the value, save the file and restart the server. The server must also be reachable from the internet and correctly configured for its selected port. A public-list problem can therefore come from either the visibility setting or the network path; changing the AuthKey will not fix a blocked port.
Private servers can still use an AuthKey
BeamMP recommends adding an AuthKey to private servers too. Keeping the key in the configuration gives the installation an authenticated identity even when Private remains true. Private status controls listing, not whether the credential should be protected.

What to check after restarting
- Confirm that the server starts without a TOML parsing or configuration error.
- Check that the
AuthKeyline is under[General]and still contains quotation marks. - Verify that the copied value is complete and matches the Keymaster entry exactly.
- For a public server, confirm that
Private = falseis saved in the file that the running server actually loads. - Confirm that the configured port is open and forwarded to the machine running BeamMP, where applicable.
- Search the BeamMP server list after allowing time for the server to register. Use the configured server name to distinguish it from similarly named entries.
If the server is private, do not expect it to appear in the public list even when the key is valid. Test it through the connection method you use for private sessions instead.
AuthKey security rules
BeamMP’s official warning is: “DO NOT EVER SHARE THIS KEY OR SHOW IT TO ANYONE. TREAT THIS LIKE A PASSWORD.” Follow that literally.
- Do not paste the key into Discord, forum posts, support tickets, issue trackers, or public logs.
- Do not include it in screenshots or videos. BeamMP’s maintenance documentation says to blur it fully in screenshots; partial blurring is not sufficient.
- Do not commit
ServerConfig.tomlcontaining the key to a public repository. - Do not put the key in a tutorial example that others can copy.
- Limit access to the machine, backups, and accounts that can read the configuration file.
Keep a private backup of the configuration only where you can control access. If you are collecting logs for troubleshooting, inspect them for the AuthKey before uploading them; a startup log or terminal capture can expose configuration values depending on the server version and logging behavior.
Can one BeamMP key be used for two servers?
No. One AuthKey can be used on one server at a time. Starting a second server with the same key is not a supported way to run two instances, even if the servers have different names or ports.
Create and manage a separate key for each simultaneously running server. BeamMP states that additional keys can be obtained by supporting the project. The exact number of keys available to an account and any support requirements can change, so use the current Keymaster and BeamMP support information for account-specific details.

Examples of when you need separate keys
- A home server and a VPS server running at the same time.
- A public production server and a separate public test server.
- Two different game or mod configurations hosted as separate BeamMP processes.
- A temporary migration where the old and new servers overlap during testing.
If you are moving a server rather than operating two at once, stop the old instance before starting the new one with the same key. Keep the key protected during the move.
What to do if your AuthKey was leaked
Assume a leaked key is compromised. Do not try to hide the exposure by editing screenshots or deleting only your local copy; anyone who obtained the original value may still have it.
- Stop the affected BeamMP server if it is running and you can do so safely.
- Remove the exposed value from public posts, repositories, screenshots, videos, paste sites, and shared logs where you control deletion. Remember that copies or cached versions may remain.
- Use BeamMP’s official FAQ and support path for compromised AuthKeys to request the appropriate recovery or replacement process. Do not publish the credential while asking for help.
- After BeamMP provides the applicable recovery action, update
ServerConfig.tomlwith the replacement value and restart the server. - Review who or what could read the old file, including shared accounts, automated backups, and repository history.
The correct recovery procedure depends on BeamMP’s current account and key-management rules. Follow the official compromised-AuthKey guidance rather than relying on an unofficial “reset” method.

The server starts, but it is not in the public list
- Open
ServerConfig.tomland confirm the exact line isPrivate = false. - Make sure you edited the configuration file used by the running instance, not a backup or a different server folder.
- Check that the AuthKey is present under
[General]and was pasted completely. - Verify that the server’s configured port is reachable through your router and firewall.
- Restart after every configuration change, then search by the configured server name.
A valid key cannot make a server public while Private remains true, and it cannot bypass a blocked network port.
The server reports a configuration or TOML error
- Check that the key is enclosed in straight double quotation marks.
- Remove accidental line breaks or extra characters copied with the key.
- Ensure each setting is written as
name = valueand that the[General]header is spelled correctly. - Restore the backup and reapply only the AuthKey line if you are unsure which edit introduced the error.
The key was copied incorrectly
Return to Keymaster and compare the stored key value with the value in ServerConfig.toml. Do not post either value for comparison. Copy it again using Keymaster’s copy control, then replace the complete quoted value in the file and restart the server.

You need another key
Do not duplicate the existing value. Create another key through Keymaster if your account is eligible, or follow BeamMP’s current guidance for obtaining additional keys by supporting the project.
Home hosting versus a VPS for BeamMP
BeamMP’s hosting guidance frames the main choice as control and cost at home versus easier, more secure infrastructure on a VPS. The AuthKey steps are the same either way, but the operational responsibilities differ.

Whichever option you choose, protect the AuthKey as a separate secret. Moving from home hosting to a VPS does not make it safe to expose the key in deployment scripts or screenshots.
A practical first-server checklist
- Sign in to BeamMP Keymaster with Discord.
- Create a clearly labeled key under Keys and copy the value once.
- Stop the server and back up
ServerConfig.toml. - Add the quoted value under
[General]asAuthKey. - Set
Private = truefor a private test orPrivate = falsefor public-list eligibility. - Confirm the configured port, router forwarding, and firewall rules.
- Save, restart, and check the server’s startup behavior.
- For a public server, search the list using the configured server name.
- Keep the key out of screenshots, logs, repositories, and chat.
- Use a different key for every server that runs at the same time.
Key facts to remember
The AuthKey is created in BeamMP Keymaster after Discord authentication, then placed in ServerConfig.toml as the [General] AuthKey value. Public-list visibility requires Private = false as well as a reachable, correctly configured server. One key is limited to one server at a time, and BeamMP requires it to be treated like a password. If it is exposed, use BeamMP’s official compromised-key support path rather than sharing it again.
