Algari Tokens of Merit were a fallback reward from The War Within Great Vault, exchangeable with Ardgaz in Dornogal for season-specific items. That system is now historical: current item history reports the token was removed in patch 12.0.1. The available sources do not confirm whether old tokens can still be redeemed in Midnight, so do not assume you can earn or spend them now.
How Algari Tokens of Merit worked
During The War Within, the Great Vault offered gear rewards as well as Algari Tokens of Merit. If you did not want one of the gear choices, you could select tokens instead. This was an alternative reward, not a separate activity or currency you earned by completing a particular quest.
For Season 3 specifically, Blizzard’s schedule said Great Vault credit began the week of August 5, 2025, and rewards became available the week of August 12, 2025. Those dates describe that season’s schedule, not a current way to earn tokens. See Blizzard’s Season 3 schedule.
Where to spend them in Dornogal
Historically, Ardgaz exchanged Algari Tokens of Merit in Dornogal. A player discussion reported that he stood to the right of the Great Vault. Treat that as a community-reported location for the historical vendor, not confirmation that he or the exchange is still available. The Dornogal location discussion records the question and answer.

Season 3 rewards and token costs
Warcraft Wiki’s Season 3 exchange list documented these options:

These were season-specific offerings, not a current Midnight price list. The Algari Token of Merit reference documents the historical exchange.

Was taking tokens better than choosing Vault gear?
There was no universally best choice: it depended on whether the offered gear or one of the vendor rewards better served your character. A Season 3 player who needed gold, a Golden Valorstone, or Carved Ethereal Crests could weigh those options against the available gear. The value depended on that player’s needs; the documented reward list does not establish one choice as best for everyone.

Do not rely on the old Season 3 instructions as a current method. Blizzard announced that Midnight would launch worldwide on March 2, 2026, and current item history reports that Algari Tokens of Merit were removed in patch 12.0.1. Those facts do not establish whether a player’s existing balance can still be exchanged or whether any vendor option remains in the current game. Check the current in-game vendor or official patch information before making plans around an old balance. Blizzard’s Midnight launch announcement gives the announced launch date.
