Questionable means it is uncertain whether a player will play; it is not a prediction that he will be active. Read practice participation separately from the game designation, then check for updates close to kickoff: the club’s report is a snapshot, and a player’s condition can change.
What do NFL game-status designations mean?

The NFL removed Probable from its game-status categories. A designation communicates the club’s stated expectation for the game, not a guarantee of what will happen. See the NFL’s injury-reporting policy.
How is practice participation different from game status?
The practice report and game-status designation answer different questions. Practice participation describes how much the player took part in team practice; the game designation describes the club’s expectation about his availability for the game. A player can have a practice participation label without that label itself establishing whether he will play.

These participation definitions are from the NFL’s reporting descriptions. Limited participation alone does not mean a player is certain to play—or certain to miss the game. Use the game designation and any later official update to assess availability.

When does the NFL injury report come out?
For a typical Sunday regular-season game, clubs file practice reports Wednesday through Friday and the game-status report Friday, generally by 4:00 p.m. New York time or as soon as possible after practice. The filing schedule differs for games played on other days. The NFL’s reporting policy sets out the requirements.

What should fantasy managers do if a status changes before kickoff?
- Check the latest official club report. Do not treat an earlier designation as permanent; clubs must report an update if a player’s condition changes after the initial game-status report.
- Recheck near kickoff. A report can become outdated, so verify the latest information before locking in a lineup decision. The NFL’s policy explains the reporting obligation; the league also publishes injury-report information at NFL.com/injuries.
- Make the lineup decision using the latest designation. If the player is listed Questionable, participation remains uncertain; if listed Doubtful, participation is unlikely; if listed Out, the player will not play.
