To use a rune in Rune Slayer, take a compatible weapon or armor piece with an open rune slot to a blacksmith, choose the rune-slotting interaction, and check the cost and confirmation prompt before you commit. The community wiki lists the fee as 20 Silver. It also describes socketing as difficult to reverse, so do not assume you can freely remove or swap a rune.
How to socket a rune
- Check your gear. Open the weapon or armor details and make sure it has an unused rune slot. Not every item has one.
- Speak to a blacksmith. Open the rune-related service or dialogue option. Players have reported finding a “rune-smith” option at the Wayshire blacksmith, but the available information does not establish that every blacksmith uses the same dialogue in the current build.
- Choose the equipment and rune. Select the target item and an available rune, then check that the interface accepts the pairing. Rune compatibility depends on the gear slot; do not assume every rune fits every item.
- Review the prompt before confirming. The community wiki lists a fee of 20 Silver to slot a rune. Check the live price, the rune’s displayed effect, and any warning about removing or changing it before you accept.
These steps reflect community-reported mechanics, not a current official rune manual. The game interface is the best place to confirm the available service, price, compatibility, and consequences for your item.

Where to get runes
The Rune Slayer Wiki lists several acquisition routes, and the source depends on the rune. Its examples are community-reported; it does not establish verified drop rates. Check the current item tooltip, bestiary, quest details, or vendor inventory for live information.

Check slots and rune compatibility
According to the community wiki, the number of rune slots is randomly determined when equipment is obtained and varies by equipment category. Its undated figures are not independently verified current drop rates; treat them as reported reference values, not a guarantee for a particular item.

The wiki also groups Greater Runes by equipment slot type. It says the same Greater Rune cannot be used twice on one piece of gear, and only one Epic Rune of the same name can be slotted into gear at a time. Since compatibility rules may change, use the current blacksmith interface to verify a specific rune and item.
Understand the risks before modifying valuable gear
The wiki describes rune slotting as semi-permanent and says runes cannot easily be removed or recovered. It lists an Angelic Rune as giving each slotted rune a 50% chance of recovery. That is a community-wiki figure, not an independently verified current rate, and recovery is not guaranteed.

Other socket-changing options carry reported risks: the wiki says Rune Carver engraves a socket while preventing further modification, and that the Satanic Rune rerolls socket count with a risk of destroying the item. The same page warns that Satanic Rune behavior was buggy in its most recent update. Treat these descriptions as risk signals rather than assurances about the live build.
- Confirm the exact item selected in the blacksmith interface.
- Read the full warning text for socketing, recovery, or rerolling.
- Do not proceed with valuable gear if the interface does not clearly explain whether the change can be reversed.
How to choose which rune to use
There is no single best rune established for every class or build. Choose based on the gear slot the rune supports, the stat or effect your character needs, how you can obtain it, and whether you are comfortable with the reported limits on changing or recovering it. Compare the effect shown in game against your current setup rather than investing a rare rune in gear you may replace soon.

How current are these rune details?
The exact prices, sources, slot probabilities, and modification behavior above come from the community-maintained Rune Slayer Wiki, rather than a current official rune guide. The official Roblox Rune Slayer listing identifies the game but does not document rune mechanics. The wiki’s update log points readers to Discord for real-time minor changes, so confirm important decisions against the live game interface.
