If you mean the Mechagon City quest instance, its reported Rustbolt teleporter is a different route. A Mechagon-themed Housing Endeavor portal may also be available in some neighborhoods, but it is not confirmed as a universal route.
First, choose the right Mechagon destination
Mechagon Island is the outdoor zone. Mechagon City is a separate quest instance, so a route to that instance will not take you back to the island. The distinction matters most if you are looking for a teleporter in Rustbolt.
Return to the outdoor island

Horde: check the Zuldazar docks
Look for Captain Krooz near the Zuldazar docks and ask about transport to Mechagon. The route is described by players as submarine travel. If the NPC or transport is not available, the report does not establish what prerequisite is missing for your character.
Alliance: check the Kul Tiras flight map
If your character has completed the introductory chain and unlocked the Mechagon flight point, look for it on the Kul Tiras flight map. The return route is documented in a third-party guide rather than an official Blizzard travel guide, and access depends on that character’s progress.

Try a neighborhood portal only if it is active
Players have reported a Mechagon-themed portal connected with a Housing Endeavor. Blizzard confirms that Endeavors exist, including the initial Moderate Mechanization Endeavor, and has documented portals tied to other Endeavors. Those official announcements do not confirm a Mechagon return portal, so check whether the relevant Endeavor and portal are actually active in your neighborhood before relying on this option. If you mean the Mechagon City quest instance
A World of Warcraft support-forum reply places a teleporter platform in Rustbolt near the area entrance for travel to the Mechagon City instance. This is not the general route to the outdoor island. Support forum discussion

If your route is missing
Check your character’s progress and unlocked travel points first. Alliance and Horde have different introductory quest chains, but the available guides do not establish one complete, current prerequisite checklist that applies to every character. The exact missing requirement therefore cannot be inferred just because an NPC, flight point, or portal is absent. The guide’s quest-chain overview
