Finality’s Auger is a random Exotic drop from the final boss of the Sundered Doctrine dungeon. Defeat the boss for a chance to earn it; completing the Drowning Labyrinth quest does not award the weapon. Triumphs that boost its drop rate can improve your odds, but no published source specifies a percentage or a guaranteed number of clears.
Where Finality’s Auger drops
The weapon comes from defeating the final boss of Sundered Doctrine. Bungie described it as an Exotic “randomly rewarded at the end” of the dungeon. In February 2025, Bungie also explained that a hotfix deployed on February 14 enabled the intended drop after it had not been dropping as expected outside Contest Mode. That was a launch-era issue, not evidence of a current bug. Bungie’s February 20, 2025 announcement covers the fix.

How to improve your chances
Complete the Sundered Doctrine Triumphs that increase Finality’s Auger’s drop chance. Bungie’s Update 8.2.0.2 notes say it fixed an issue with drop-rate scaling from Triumph boosts and added an initial drop-rate boost for Sundered Doctrine completions. These boosts raise the chance; they do not guarantee the Exotic. Bungie does not state an exact drop percentage or a number of clears that guarantees it. See Bungie’s Update 8.2.0.2 notes.
Finality’s Auger and the Drowning Labyrinth quest are separate
Drowning Labyrinth is for the Exotic catalyst and dungeon armor class items, not for acquiring Finality’s Auger itself. A March 21, 2026 reply in the Bungie.net Help Forums clarifies that the weapon is a random drop from the dungeon boss. The reply also says quest progress is not shared between characters, even though you can complete the quest with any character.

Some quest steps involve the dungeon’s secret room. A December 2025 Bungie.net Help Forums response says that, for the relevant last-step situation, players should activate the code “Worm Give Guardian” at the start of the dungeon, then open the chest in the secret room behind the final boss chest. This is a catalyst-quest step; opening that chest does not guarantee the weapon.
Access and repeat attempts
A February 2025 GameSpot guide described the Final Shape Dungeon Key as the access requirement for Sundered Doctrine. Because that guidance is dated, check the current Destiny 2 interface or an authorized platform storefront for your access entitlement. Current access terms, dungeon rotation, and repeat-clear eligibility are not established here, so check those in-game before planning farming runs. The available sources do not establish a current weekly attempt limit or confirm which repeat clears can award the Exotic.

Historical Contest Mode guarantee
Bungie announced a one-time Contest Mode make-up event scheduled for February 22, 2025, in which players who completed the activity during the event could receive Finality’s Auger. That event has passed and is not a current way to obtain the weapon. For current acquisition, use the random boss drop and Triumph boosts described above.
