The simplest documented route to Frankfurt steel is the Cave in Apollonia, in Trosky: find the key inside a cracked skull in the chest room, then open the locked chest for two pieces. Other caches are reported across Trosky and Kuttenberg, while a Trosky Castle blacksmith is a possible purchase option after story progression.
What Frankfurt steel is
Frankfurt steel is a blacksmithing material in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Gamer Guides’ item database lists its in-game weight as 1.0 and price as 20.0; those values describe the item entry, not a real-world measurement or guaranteed sale price. The database description identifies it as steel used as raw material for weapons and armour. The sources do not establish a recipe unique to Frankfurt steel or a special performance bonus.

- From Trosky Castle, take the road north. Follow it as it loops east through the trees and then turns south into Apollonia; the cave is on the right.
- Enter the cave and follow the passage, climbing the two ladders to reach a room with a locked chest in the middle.
- At the far end of the room, look on a ledge for a sack with a cracked skull resting on it. Search the skull to find the chest key.
- Use the key on the chest. It contains two Frankfurt steel, 200 Groschen, and other valuables.
Other reported map locations

Merchant and Semine alternatives
ScalaCube reports that a blacksmith at Trosky Castle can sell Frankfurt steel after the story has progressed through Wedding Crashers and For Whom The Bell Tolls. Treat this as a possible option rather than guaranteed stock: merchant availability may depend on progression.
The same guide reports three pieces in a chest in the horse trader’s barn at Semine. It says the key is on a wooden pillar near the horse pasture. This location is less strongly corroborated than the Apollonia route.

Which route should you choose?
- For a straightforward, documented find: use the Apollonia cave route for two pieces and a key hidden in the same room as the chest.
- For a larger reported cache: the Trosky cliffside sack contains three pieces, but reaching it may involve a drop from above.
- If you are already exploring Kuttenberg: its two reported caches involve either a medium-locked chest in a ruined house or an underground room reached via an enemy camp.
- If you prefer buying: check the Trosky Castle blacksmith after the reported story milestones, bearing in mind that stock is not guaranteed.
