On PC, the best-documented shortcut is the console command player.additem F [#], with [#] replaced by the amount of gold you want. It is a cheat, not a normal gameplay method: PC Gamer warns that cheats disable achievements and recommends backing up your save. The command is PC-only; a recent gold-duplication report does not provide enough detail to treat its glitch as a reliable, platform-wide method.
PC: add gold with a console command
PC Gamer’s guide, last updated April 25, 2025, lists player.additem F [#] for adding gold. Press the tilde key to open the in-game console, enter the command with F as the gold item code, and replace [#] with the quantity you want. For example, entering player.additem F 1000 requests 1,000 gold. This is a dated guide rather than a current official command reference, so results may depend on the game build. Before using it, make a separate backup save. PC Gamer warns that cheats disable achievements in the remaster and that commands can cause crashes or other bugs. Do not assume the console or command works on Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch 2.
Does the gold duplication glitch still work?
A September 2026 player report says a gold-duplication attempt worked using a container at Dunbarrow Cove after the player sent pirates out on voyages. The post does not give the platform, game build, exact inputs, or a reproducible sequence, and the player described the exploit as previously unreliable. That makes it a recent anecdote, not a verified how-to or a guarantee that the glitch works in your version. The player report.
