You can still try to recover a Steam account without its recovery code. Use Steam’s official recovery flow: if you can access the phone number linked to the account, try SMS; if you are still signed in to Steam Mobile, check the Steam Guard settings for a recovery-code option. If neither is available, contact Steam Support through help.steampowered.com and be ready to prove you own the account. Recovery is not guaranteed, and Steam does not state a review time.
Choose the recovery route based on what you can still access

How to contact Steam Support if the self-service options fail
- Go directly to Steam’s official login-help flow. Do not follow account-recovery links from unsolicited messages.
- Select the option that best describes your problem, such as a lost phone or a missing authenticator code, and follow the prompts. Steam’s questions and available options may vary with the account situation.
- If the automated steps cannot restore access, use the Support contact form offered in the flow. Explain which recovery methods you no longer control and provide the ownership information Steam requests.
- Check the email account you provide for a reply from Support. Steam does not publish a guaranteed manual-review turnaround, so avoid relying on a specific recovery deadline.
If you have forgotten the account email, password, and phone number, Steam says its recovery process still allows you to contact Support. The evidence Steam requests can depend on the account circumstances.

Protect your account while trying to recover it
- Use only help.steampowered.com for the recovery flow. Steam warns against entering credentials on websites not run by Valve or installing programs suggested in email or chat as a way to repair Steam.
- Never give anyone your password, mobile authenticator code, SMS recovery or removal code, or backup code. Steam states: “Steam Support will never ask for your password or mobile authenticator code (nor will any Valve employees).” Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator FAQ
- If you still have the phone but Steam rejects its generated mobile code, check that the device time is correct and that the app is showing the right Steam account. Mobile codes change every 30 seconds. Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator FAQ
What changes if Steam removes the authenticator
Steam says that after the authenticator is removed, sign-ins return to email codes. Trading and Community Market sales are restricted for 15 days. Consider that restriction if you use Steam inventory, trade items, or have an active Market listing. Steam Guard restrictions FAQ
