You should not use gameplay macros in Fortnite. Epic’s Terms of Service prohibits bot software that automates use of its products, and rules for covered Fortnite tournaments specifically prohibit macro keys or similar methods that automate in-game actions. If you need different or easier controls, use Fortnite’s in-game settings or accessibility devices Epic identifies as supported.
Why Fortnite macros can put your account at risk
A gameplay macro automates actions that a player would otherwise perform manually. Epic’s Terms of Service prohibits players from using bot software or services to automate use of Epic’s licensed products. It also bars cheating and tampering with gameplay-integrity tools, and says Epic may suspend or terminate an account if it finds evidence of cheating.
Epic’s Fortnite competitive rules are more explicit about macros: in covered tournament events, they prohibit “Using macro keys or similar methods to automate in-game actions.” That is an event-rule restriction; it should not be read as the only rule that may apply to macros outside tournaments.
What penalties does Epic describe?
Epic’s cheating-policy guidance, announced in April 2025, describes a one-year matchmaking ban for a first cheating offense and a lifetime ban for a second offense. Use supported settings and accessibility options instead
If your goal is to make controls easier or adapt them to your needs, use Fortnite’s own settings or accessibility options rather than software that automates gameplay. Epic says Fortnite supports the Xbox Accessibility Controller and its accessories, as well as 3dRudder. Its support page also describes in-game options such as visual cues, color-blind settings, aim-assist settings, and PS5 haptic feedback. Support for named accessibility devices is not blanket approval for every product marketed as an accessibility aid. Check Epic’s guidance for the specific device, and do not use a setup to automate actions or create a competitive advantage.

Do not substitute restricted hardware for a macro
Epic warns that hardware that provides or is intended to provide a competitive advantage is not allowed. Its support guidance names Cronus Zen and Cronus Max as restricted examples. If Fortnite detects restricted hardware, Epic says players must remove it and restart the game; attempting to bypass the restriction can result in a permanent ban.
