A TechJuice report attributes the claim to leaker Dusk Golem (AestheticGamer) and quotes a March 3, 2026 post saying full production on a Resident Evil 1 remake had begun. The same report treats the game’s perspective and timing as uncertain and describes a possible cancellation. TechJuice’s report does not cite confirmation from Capcom.
What the Resident Evil 1 remake leak actually claims
TechJuice quotes Dusk Golem as writing: “Mansion, everyone knows that. Likewise, I’m aware that more recently full production on a RE:1 Remake has gone underway (though years out time of writing).” That is a leaker’s statement, not an official announcement. The report does not independently verify the production claim.

In the report, “full production” is an attributed leak claim. It should not be read as evidence of a public reveal, a finished game, or a firm commitment by Capcom.

| Timing | The report describes the game as years away and gives a four-to-seven-year estimate. | A reported estimate, not a release window or date. |

Could a modern remake change the Spencer Mansion?
The mansion is central to the leak’s framing, but the report does not provide confirmed design details for a new game. Its possible first-person or over-the-shoulder approaches are not established features, so there is no reliable basis yet to say how a new version would present exploration, combat, or the mansion itself.

- Return to the series origins - Discover the truth behind what led to the horrors at the Mansion in Resident Evil in this fan-favorite and popular prequel title to the series.
- Completely enhanced visuals - New high-resolution textures have been created from scratch, including 1080p support on next-gen consoles, while still preserving the classic appearance of the original release.
- Fan-favorite Resident Evil characters - Rookie S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambers and wanted criminal Billy Coen combine skills and buddy up to survive the undead and infected nightmares that await them.
- All original difficulty levels plus new Very Easy Mode for novice players
The report also mentions a mansion-inspired section cut from a recent Resident Evil game. The explanation that it was removed to avoid repetitive environments is presented as Dusk Golem’s speculation, not confirmed developer intent.
How the rumor fits the series’ remake history
The original Resident Evil was released in 1996, and the report points to a 2002 remake as an earlier version of the mansion story. Those dates provide context for why another remake might attract attention; they do not confirm that a new one is underway. The report does not specify editions or platforms for those earlier games, or establish their current availability.

Is there an official release roadmap?
No official schedule is established by the report. The claimed 2027, 2028, and 2029 sequence should be treated as rumor rather than a calendar players can rely on. In particular, the four-to-seven-year estimate for a possible Resident Evil 1 remake is not a release date, and the report itself allows that the project might be cancelled.
Until Capcom announces a game or provides a release window, there is no confirmed remake to preorder. The practical takeaway is to separate the reported production claim from the speculative details attached to it.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
- Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
- Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
- Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.
- Reimagined Story – Resident Evil 4 dials up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry, while providing more nuanced depictions of the character motivations and relationships that defined the 2005 survival horror icon.
