To get Mega Staraptor in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, finish the base game’s main story, own the paid Mega Dimension DLC, and complete Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 2. Its Rogue Mega Staraptor encounter rewards Staraptite, Staraptor’s Mega Stone; the encounter also lets you catch Staraptor.
What you need before the encounter
- Complete the base game’s main story. Nintendo says this is required to access the story content in Mega Dimension.
- Own the paid Mega Dimension DLC. Nintendo describes it as additional story content released on December 10, 2025. It is not a standalone base-game reward. Nintendo’s DLC page has the official access details.
How to get Staraptite
- Start the DLC story. After meeting the base-game story requirement and accessing the DLC, progress through its Hyperspace Lumiose content.
- Reach Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 2. Serebii reports that you need 10,000 survey points to continue the survey. Once you meet that progression requirement, a portal appears on the map. The point requirement is guide-reported; check the current game if you need version-specific confirmation. Serebii’s Hyperspace Lumiose guide describes the survey sequence.
- Enter the portal and defeat Rogue Mega Staraptor. The encounter is the mission’s boss battle. The guides report that defeating it lets you catch Staraptor and awards Staraptite. Game8’s guide also identifies Staraptite as Staraptor’s Mega Stone.
How to use Staraptite
Staraptite is the Mega Stone Staraptor uses to Mega Evolve in battle. The available guides establish the item and its purpose, but do not give reliable, specific menu instructions for assigning it, so use the game’s item and battle interface rather than relying on an unverified menu path.

Donuts and battle preparation
Special donuts can grant different effects while you are in hyperspace, according to Nintendo’s DLC information. That is general Mega Dimension context, not evidence of a Staraptor-specific donut requirement. The guides do not establish a recommended team or dependable tactics for this fight.
