A Minecraft purchase on Android or iPhone does not automatically give you Minecraft for Windows. Check your PC entitlement in the Minecraft Launcher first. If the Launcher offers Play or Install, you can install Bedrock on that account; if it shows Buy Now, you will need a Windows PC license to play on PC.
Check whether your Microsoft account owns Minecraft for Windows
- Open the Minecraft Launcher on your Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your PC Minecraft purchase. A mobile app-store purchase alone does not establish PC ownership.
- Select Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, also labeled Minecraft for Windows, and check the button. Play or Install means that account owns the version; Buy Now means the account does not show a license for it.
You can also check the PC product in Microsoft Store while signed in to the account you want to use. Minecraft’s ownership instructions explain how to identify the PC editions on your account.
If you own the PC edition, install Bedrock
Choose Install or Play for Minecraft for Windows in the Launcher or Microsoft Store. The official PC listing identifies Minecraft for Windows as Bedrock Edition. If your aim is to play with friends on mobile, launch Bedrock—not Java—on your PC.
If the Launcher says Buy Now
That account does not show ownership of the PC version. To play on Windows, buy the official Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC bundle, which includes Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock), Java Edition, and the Minecraft Launcher. Then install Minecraft for Windows through the Launcher or Microsoft Store.

Before purchasing, check that you are signed into the account you intend to use. If you previously bought Minecraft on PC with a different Microsoft account, check that account’s Launcher or Microsoft Store listing instead.
Bedrock or Java: which should you launch?

The two editions are not interchangeable for multiplayer: players generally need to use the same edition to join one another. Minecraft’s edition guide describes their platform and play differences.

What your mobile purchase and Microsoft account mean
Android and iOS purchases are handled through their respective app stores, while Minecraft for Windows is a separate PC listing. Signing in with a Microsoft account for Minecraft services does not, by itself, convert an Apple App Store or Google Play purchase into a Windows license. Check the PC listing on the account you plan to use.
