To expand a repaired visitor cabin, finish the “Bigger on the Inside” quest, then interact with the cabin’s outdoor sign and choose Upgrade. The sign shows the cost for that cabin in your current game; the first visitor-cabin upgrade listed in the available guides costs 3 crates.
Which building do you want to upgrade?
If you mean a cabin, the upgrade resource is crates. The cabin references do not indicate that rubber, sticks, Sparks, Mechanisms, Logs, Gizmos, or other ordinary crafting materials can replace them. Personal cabins and visitor cabins also have different unlock paths: “Make Yourself At Home” unlocks a personal cabin, while “Friends and Family” opens more visitor cabins, according to the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wiki cabin reference.

If you mean a different building, a crafting recipe, or a decoration, identify the specific structure or item before collecting materials. General crafting supplies are not established as cabin-upgrade currency.

How to upgrade a repaired visitor cabin
- Complete the “Bigger on the Inside” quest.
- Make sure the visitor cabin is repaired.
- Go to the cabin’s outdoor sign and interact with it.
- Select Upgrade and check the crate cost shown for that cabin.
The cabin reference says My Melody’s Handy Helper ability does not reduce cabin-upgrade costs, so choosing her as a helper will not make the sign’s price smaller.

How many crates does an upgrade cost?
The first visitor-cabin upgrade cited by the cabin references costs 3 crates and adds a lobby and a second room. A third-party guide lists later room additions at 5, 8, 15, and 25 crates, respectively; those figures are a guide’s listed costs, not a guarantee for every cabin or game version. Check the sign in your game before planning how many crates to save.

For planning across cabins, weigh the cost shown in-game against how many rooms you need, which visitors need a cabin in that area, and whether you can share a multi-room cabin. The Kittymart guide recommends planning cabins by region and sharing space; this is its strategy, not a stated game rule.

Where can you get more crates?
The available cabin references do not establish a complete, current list of crate sources by quest, activity, region, or version. That means there is no verified crate-farming route or daily crate source to recommend here. Check the rewards for quests and activities available in your current game, and use the cabin sign to see how many more crates you need before the next upgrade.

They can help with crafting and preparation, but that is separate from paying for a cabin upgrade. PC Gamer recommends gathering daily-limited basics such as rubber and sticks and crafting components ahead of time; that advice does not show how to obtain cabin crates. Its guide also says Gizmos come from gifting Chococat. Treat these as crafting guidance, not crate sources.
