You can add one only if that particular Pokémon can be transferred from a compatible game or Pokémon GO, moved from Pokémon Bank, claimed through an available Mystery Gift, or received in a permitted trade. Check the species’ eligibility and the destination game before moving it: entering HOME does not guarantee it can be withdrawn into every connected game.
Ways to add a Mythical Pokémon to Pokémon HOME
The right route depends on the Mythical’s species, where it is coming from, and the current transfer or event rules. HOME is a storage and transfer hub, not a universal Mythical giveaway. Its official guidance does not provide a complete species-by-species list of which Mythicals can use each route.
Transfer from a compatible game
Check HOME’s supported-game and compatibility information for the exact Pokémon and the game you want to use. Pokémon can only be moved into games in which they appear, and compatibility for moving a Pokémon into HOME can differ from compatibility for withdrawing it to another game. The Pokémon Company International’s Pokémon HOME transfer information explains the general rule; check the app before transferring a valuable Pokémon.
Move it from Pokémon Bank
Moving Pokémon from Nintendo 3DS titles through Pokémon Bank to HOME requires a Pokémon HOME Premium Plan. The transfer is one-way: once a Pokémon has moved into HOME, it cannot be sent back to Bank. Confirm that the specific Pokémon and source game are supported before starting. The official Pokémon HOME transfer information covers this requirement and restriction.

Transfer it from Pokémon GO
Complete the Pokémon HOME mobile app tutorial before transferring from GO. The GO Transporter uses energy, with the amount depending on the Pokémon. Some special Pokémon cannot be transferred, and a transfer from GO to HOME cannot be reversed. Because the official guidance does not list every restricted Pokémon, check the in-game transfer screen and current Pokémon HOME help for the particular Mythical rather than assuming it is eligible. Connecting HOME and Pokémon GO does not require HOME Premium.
Claim a Mystery Gift
Use the mobile version of HOME to redeem a gift when an offer for the Pokémon is available. The app supports Local Event Check, code, and code-pattern redemption; after redeeming, claim the gift from the Gift Box in Mystery Gifts. Offers can expire, and each gift can be received only once per save file. These redemption options do not mean a Mythical gift is currently available: check the app and official event announcements for the species, region, and redemption dates. Trade for one through HOME
The mobile app has Wonder Box, GTS, Room Trade, and Friend Trade. Whether a particular Mythical can be requested or traded depends on the species and trade method; the feature overview does not give a complete eligibility list. Check that Pokémon and the selected feature in the app before relying on a trade. The official Pokémon HOME overview describes the available trade features.
Check these details before you transfer
- Source eligibility: Can this exact Mythical enter HOME from the game, Bank, or GO you plan to use?
- Destination eligibility: Can it be withdrawn into the game where you want to use it? A Pokémon in HOME is not necessarily usable in every connected game.
- Reversibility: Bank-to-HOME and GO-to-HOME transfers cannot be reversed to their original services.
- Premium requirement: Bank transfers require HOME Premium; connecting HOME with GO does not.
- Gift or trade availability: Confirm the current offer’s region and dates, or the trade feature’s eligibility, rather than assuming the route works for every Mythical.
Is the first-transfer Melmetal a Mythical Pokémon?
Pokémon Support documents a special Gigantamax-capable Melmetal gift that becomes available in the mobile HOME app’s Gift Box in Mystery Gifts after a Pokémon is first transferred from Pokémon GO and received in HOME.
