To stop fears from appearing across your household, turn off Wants & Fears in Game Options > Gameplay. That also turns off Wants. To remove one fear while keeping the system on, use a Fear-Be-Gone potion from the Rewards Store or follow the fear-related want shown for that Sim. Neither individual method is confirmed to prevent that Sim from gaining a different fear later.
Choose between disabling the system and removing one fear
| Method | Effect | Wants stay enabled? | Cost or requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turn off Wants & Fears | Stops the feature from generating fears while it is disabled. | No. The combined setting disables Wants too. | Change a setting in Game Options. |
| Fear-Be-Gone potion | Attempts to remove an individual Sim’s fear. | Yes. | Buy it in the Rewards Store with Satisfaction Points. The current cost is not confirmed by official documentation; an EA Forums participant reports 300 points (EA Forums). |
| Complete the fear-related want | Addresses an individual fear through gameplay. | Yes. | Wait for the relevant want to appear, then follow its in-game prompt. Availability and actions depend on the fear. |
Turn off fears across the household
- Open Game Options.
- Select Gameplay.
- Switch off Wants & Fears, then apply the change.
Electronic Arts says the feature is on by default and can be toggled off in Gameplay options. Because the control covers Wants and Fears together, this is a broad solution, not a way to keep Wants while suppressing only fears. Read EA’s Wants and Fears update.
Remove a fear without disabling Wants
Try Fear-Be-Gone
Open the Rewards Store and look for Fear-Be-Gone. The potion uses Satisfaction Points, which Sims earn through Wants and Aspirations and spend in the Rewards Store, according to EA’s cheats FAQ. The current point price is not established by official sources; a community post reports 300 points, so check the live in-game listing before deciding whether you have enough.
A community recap of a 2025 update says the potion recipe was changed to properly cure Fear of the Dark. That points to fear-specific reliability having been an issue, but does not establish how every fear behaves in every save. Read the community update recap.

Follow the fear-related want
When a fear-related want appears in the Sim’s UI, complete the action it requests. The task varies by fear. A player discussion says the relevant want may appear alongside ordinary wants and may require refreshing them; treat that as anecdotal advice, and use the prompt shown in your own game rather than assuming a universal sequence. See the EA Forums discussion.
Can you remove fears with a cheat?
EA documents how to open the cheat console and use sims.give_satisfaction_points [number] to add Satisfaction Points. That can help fund a Rewards Store purchase, but EA’s FAQ does not document a fear-specific removal cheat. Do not rely on an unverified trait-removal command as an official solution.

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
What “permanently” means in practice
Disabling Wants & Fears prevents the feature from generating fears for as long as it remains off. Removing one fear with a potion or gameplay resolution is not the same as immunity: official guidance does not promise that a Sim can never acquire another fear while Wants & Fears is enabled.
There have also been targeted fear-related fixes. EA’s September 22, 2026 patch notes list a change so Sims with the Brave Trait are no longer afraid of thundersnow. The notes list PC version 1.128.90.1030, Mac version 1.128.90.1230, and console version 2.39; that narrow fix does not establish that every fear issue has been addressed. Check EA’s September 22, 2026 update notes.
