If your Roblox avatar’s face moves, first identify whether it is copying your expressions through the camera or animating as part of a Dynamic Head. Turn off camera-driven animation with the Camera control in the experience or in Privacy Settings; for a Dynamic Head that blinks or changes expression on its own, disable facial animation in avatar customization.
First identify what is making the face move
- It copies your expressions: Camera-driven avatar animation is likely active. Use the in-experience Camera control or the account Privacy Settings control.
- It blinks or changes expression without tracking you: Turn off facial animation for the Dynamic Head in avatar customization.
- It happens only in one experience: The experience may be applying its own character animation or mood. The settings above may not control every creator-authored effect.
Turn off camera-driven avatar animation
Use the in-experience control to disable avatar animation for the current experience:
- Join the experience where your face is moving.
- Open the Roblox menu.
- Select the Camera icon to disable avatar animation. Roblox Support explains this control.
You can also turn the feature off in account settings. Open Privacy Settings and switch off Use camera to animate your avatar with your movement. This account setting and the in-experience Camera control address camera-driven animation; they do not replace the Dynamic Head facial-animation setting.
Camera-driven avatar animation is available only in experiences that support camera and microphone for communication, and the equipped head must support facial animation. Roblox says camera support is shown in an experience’s details under About / Communication. See Roblox’s camera animation guidance.

Turn off facial animation on a Dynamic Head
If your head animates without mirroring your live expressions, open avatar customization, select the Dynamic Head, and switch off its facial animation. Roblox’s Dynamic Head migration announcement, posted January 27, 2026 and updated March 23, 2026, describes an animation toggle and a head-shape selection menu. Menu layout can vary by app version or device, so look in the head customization controls if the wording or placement differs. You do not need to buy an accessory to access the documented settings.
When movement continues in one experience
A creator may apply an animation or a persistent looping mood to a Dynamic Head. Roblox Creator Hub documents moods as looping facial animations and explains how creators can remove them from their own experiences. That documentation is for creators; it does not establish a universal player-side switch for every experience-authored animation. If turning off camera animation does not stop the movement, the experience itself may be controlling it.

What Roblox says about camera privacy
Roblox’s Facial Animation Privacy Notice says face analysis happens on the user’s device and that camera video and raw facial analysis are not sent to Roblox or third parties. It says video and analysis remain in temporary device memory only as long as needed, then are erased, and camera-animation keyframes are deleted in real time after use. The notice also says an experience can read abstracted facial-animation values while camera access is enabled and use them for gameplay.
