In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, use Heightened Senses to find people predisposed to the resonance you need, steer them into full resonance through conversation, then feed on them. Sanguine comes from arousal or attraction, Choleric from anger, and Melancholic from anxiety or fear. Map-marked events can also contain targets who are already fully resonated, while Brujah’s Taunt can induce Choleric resonance immediately.
How to get resonance points

Use Heightened Senses to find a suitable person
While exploring Seattle, activate Heightened Senses and look for pedestrians with an emotional predisposition matching the resonance you want. Resonance is something vampires can detect; the target’s predisposition is the starting point, not a guarantee that they are already fully resonated.

Use conversation to build the emotion
Talk to the person and choose responses that push them toward the matching emotion until they become fully resonated. Your approach, roleplaying choices, and wardrobe can affect the conversation options and outcome.

Feed once they are fully resonated
Feed on the target after they reach full resonance to gain that type of resonance. Their reaction can reflect the emotion: an angry person may become aggressive, while a frightened person may flee.

Check map-highlighted events
Some marked city events contain people who are already fully resonated. Finding one can let you skip the conversation and feed directly.

Use Brujah’s Taunt for Choleric resonance
Paradox specifically identifies Brujah’s Taunt as an ability that fills people with rage and provides Choleric resonance. The developer explanation does not identify equivalent Sanguine or Melancholic shortcuts.

Which emotion gives each resonance?

How resonance unlocks cross-clan abilities
After becoming Sheriff of Seattle, collect the resonance required for a cross-clan ability, then drink from that clan’s contact. This adds the ability to the Ability Tree; you must still spend Ability Points to unlock it. The official developer explanation does not give a complete numerical cost table, so check the current in-game tree rather than relying on a fixed point figure for a particular ability.
