During Pokémon GO’s Legendary Heroes event, the way to try for Shiny Zacian was to battle Zacian in Five-Star Raids and check the encounter afterward. A shiny was possible, not guaranteed; the official announcement gave no odds or raid-count estimate. The event ran September 26 to October 1, 2024, and has ended.
How the Shiny Zacian encounter worked
- During the event, find Zacian in a Five-Star Raid and defeat it.
- Tap through to the post-raid encounter and see whether Zacian is shiny.
The Pokémon GO team introduced the debut with the wording, “Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Zacian—if you’re lucky!” That describes a chance encounter, not a guarantee for every raid. When Legendary Heroes ran
The event was scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. through Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 8:00 p.m., local time. Zacian was listed in Five-Star Raids during that window. Since the event is over, those dates are historical rather than current raid instructions. Official event announcement
Did the Sword or Shield path affect Shiny Zacian?
No effect on Shiny Zacian odds was stated. Free branching Timed Research let players choose Sword or Shield; the choice affected which Pokémon were attracted to Incense and which Collection Challenge they received. What the announcement does not establish
- It gives no Shiny Zacian odds or recommended raid count.
- It does not guarantee a shiny after a raid or describe a shortcut through the event’s research paths.
- It does not establish whether Shiny Zacian is available through another Pokémon GO feature now. For present-day availability, check current official Pokémon GO announcements or the in-game raid schedule.
The event page also mentioned a 50% Stardust cost reduction for Special Trades and that Koffing could evolve into Galarian Weezing during the event. Those were event features, not alternate ways to obtain Shiny Zacian. Official event announcement
