The most reliable way to get a Mythic Shroud of False Death is to use the Horadric Cube’s Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe on an eligible Unique chest item. Blizzard says the recipe transfers that item into Mythic quality while retaining its affixes and modifications. It is not a random Shroud drop: you choose the item being upgraded. Check the live recipe’s requirements and eligibility in-game before spending materials.
Use the Horadric Cube to upgrade a Unique chest item
In the Season 15 guide, Blizzard describes Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic as a 1:1 transfer: the submitted eligible Unique becomes Mythic quality, keeping its affixes and modifications. The result receives a Crafted tag, and the recipe cannot be used on an Unmodifiable item. See Blizzard’s Season 15 guide for the current overview.
- Find a Unique chest item that is eligible for the direct-upgrade recipe.
- Open the Horadric Cube and inspect the live Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe.
- Confirm the item is eligible and review the listed materials and requirements before crafting.
- Submit the item only if you want that specific item’s affixes and modifications transferred into Mythic quality.
The current guide’s overview does not restate every recipe requirement or material cost. Season 14 instructions mentioned an 850+ Unique item in the target slot, level 70, Torment+ and a Pandemonium Fragment cost; those are historical details, not confirmed Season 15 requirements. Blizzard’s Season 14 guide documents that earlier version. Use the recipe panel in your current game rather than relying on the older requirements.
Other ways to obtain Mythic Uniques
Blizzard also lists Jeweler Rune Crafting and the Blacksmith’s Mythic Cache as Mythic creation routes. The Season 15 guide does not establish either as a way to target Shroud of False Death specifically. Their outputs do not receive the Crafted tag, unlike the direct Cube transfer.

Can you target-farm Shroud of False Death?
The reviewed Blizzard sources do not provide a Shroud-specific drop percentage or confirm a particular boss as a Shroud target. Season 15 patch notes say Mythic drops from Initiate and Greater Lair Bosses and Belial’s Hoard use the corresponding boss’s Unique pool, while generic loot has a small chance outside those pools. They also report increased Mythic drop rates from several sources, but publish no numeric rates or Shroud-specific odds. Consult the 3.2.2 patch notes for those changes; do not treat them as evidence that a specific boss targets Shroud.

The direct Cube result is marked Crafted, whereas outputs from the Jeweler’s Rune Crafting and Blacksmith’s Mythic Cache routes are not. Blizzard’s Season 15 guide identifies a Crafted-tag equip limit; check the current in-game rules before planning around multiple Crafted items. The tag distinction matters when comparing a guaranteed transfer with the other creation routes.
