The developer’s announcement archive labels an announcement “11/6 Dungeon Munchies 2 Early Access,” creating a one-day discrepancy. As of October 7, 2026, the game is not yet available; check the official Steam page on launch day for availability, price, and unlock timing.
How to start playing
- Wishlist the sequel on Steam. Use the Dungeon Munchies 2 store page to check launch availability and any updated release information.
- Check your computer against the sequel’s requirements. The listed minimums are below; do not substitute the original game’s requirements.
- On release, buy and launch it through Steam. The exact regional price and unlock hour were not shown on the listing reviewed as of October 7, 2026, so confirm both on the store page before purchase.
- Expect an incomplete first chapter, not the full game. The developer describes the initial Early Access build as the first story chapter, with about 2–3 hours of gameplay.
What the Early Access build includes
The developer says additional chapters are planned during development. The planned full release is expected to add levels, character abilities, enemies, and more of the protagonist’s story, while fixing bugs and design issues and polishing the game. Those plans may change: the listing explicitly describes Early Access as work in progress.
The developer estimates Early Access may last roughly as long as development of the first Dungeon Munchies, which took roughly two to three years. This is an estimate, not a promised completion date. The developer says it will gather feedback primarily through Steam Community and Discord while monitoring other platforms; Discord membership is not stated as a condition of playing.
What kind of game is Dungeon Munchies 2?
Steam describes it as a side-scrolling action RPG and sequel. You play a zombie chef exploring a ruined space colony, fighting alien creatures, and cooking them into dishes. In the producer Q&A, the developer describes randomly dropped abilities alongside story-based character growth, and classes that replace the original game’s weapon system. Each class has four skill slots, and an additional stat-growth system offers a way to grow stronger through farming. These are developer descriptions, not independent assessments of balance or difficulty.

- With 40 Dungeons to choose from, every game will be different. Very different.
- Now the same size (and price) as the other numbered Munchkin expansions.
- The cards in this set also work well with Munchkin Shakespeare and Munchkin legends, and many will work with any set using the original fantasy Munchkin card design.
- Number of players: 3-6
The lead artist and writer say the story picks up from the first game’s ending. Playing the original may provide context, but the sequel’s listing does not state that owning or finishing it is required. The original’s core loop is also hunting creatures, cooking them, and eating dishes to gain abilities, according to its Steam listing.

Early Access makes most sense if you are comfortable with a work in progress, want to try the opening chapter, or are interested in giving feedback. Waiting may suit you better if you prefer a complete story and finished systems. Since the price was not shown on the listing reviewed, compare the launch price with the developer’s estimate of about 2–3 hours for the first chapter before deciding whether that initial scope works for you.

For updates, use the developer’s Steam announcement archive and the sequel’s store page. The store page is the place to verify availability when the stated release window arrives, particularly because the listed date and announcement label differ by one day.
