In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2, reach the Namek stage in Dragon World Mode and let Frieza defeat Krillin. Player-authored walkthroughs report that this awards Goku’s Super Saiyan skill or capsule; it does not unlock a separate playable character.
Unlock Goku’s Super Saiyan skill
- Check the game title. This route is for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2, not Budokai Tenkaichi 2.
- Play Dragon World Mode until you reach the Namek stage where Frieza appears.
- Let Frieza defeat Krillin. Guides identify Krillin’s defeat by Frieza on Namek as the condition for receiving Goku’s Super Saiyan skill or capsule.
Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 are different unlocks
If you mean Goku’s Super Saiyan 2 capsule, that is a separate reward. A GameFAQs cheats guide lists defeating non-Majin Vegeta with Goku in Stage 5 as its unlock condition.

How well is the Namek condition confirmed?
Two player-authored GameFAQs walkthroughs agree on the Krillin-and-Frieza condition, but the available sources are not official publisher documentation. The Atari PlayStation 2 manual supports the game’s identity and skill-editing context; it does not confirm this specific unlock. The sources reviewed also do not establish whether the PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions differ on this condition.
