How to unlock the Aeronautics Badge
- Find six balloons. Search chests for balloon items. A guide last updated August 14, 2025, says balloons may appear singly or in bunches, and larger white suitcases may contain three. Contents are random, so no chest guarantees the full set. TheGamer’s PEAK badge guide describes this route.
- Equip all six. Open your inventory and equip each balloon. The guide specifies six; it does not establish that fewer will trigger the badge.
- Take off. With all six equipped, rise into the air to meet the guide’s stated flight condition.
This is a qualified walkthrough, not a confirmed current-build procedure: the available detailed guide dates to August 2025, and no primary developer source in the material here confirms whether the requirement has since changed.
Where to find balloons in PEAK
Look in chests as you explore. The guide reports that ordinary chests can contain balloons and that larger white suitcases may hold a three-balloon bunch. Because chest contents are random, searching suitcases can help, but it is not a guaranteed shortcut. Keep track of how many you have before moving on so you know whether you still need more.
What to watch out for while flying
The same guide describes balloons as a survival item introduced in the Mesa update: enough can lift a player, and balloons can also reduce fall damage. It says balloons pop after about a minute, so a short flight can end in a fall. Do not treat the damage reduction as protection from every fall; plan to land before the balloons give out.

A September 2026 Reddit post reproducing Patch 2.4.C notes reports that the developers fixed a bug that let another player in a lobby fulfill the Aeronautics Badge requirement for someone else. That is a secondary report of a patch fix, not primary developer documentation. To avoid relying on the old shared-trigger behavior, perform the flight yourself. The post does not confirm whether the six-balloon requirement has changed.

The Aeronautics Badge is an achievement in the video game PEAK, not a real-world aviation or scouting credential. The documented method uses the game’s virtual balloons; buying physical balloons has no bearing on unlocking it. PEAK on Steam identifies the game.
