To get the free Hazard Pay Weapon Skin, use a verified SHiFT account, opt in to 2K and Gearbox marketing, link the platform account you play Borderlands 4 on, then log into the game with that SHiFT account. You need a copy of Borderlands 4; no deluxe edition or public code is required. The offer is limited to one redemption per SHiFT account and is currently stated to end December 31, 2030, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. See the official Hazard Pay instructions.
How to claim the Hazard Pay skin
- Create or sign in to SHiFT. Use a verified SHiFT account and agree to its Terms of Service.
- Enable marketing messages. In your SHiFT account preferences, opt in to newsletters and digital marketing from 2K and Gearbox, then save the change. PC Gamer describes the setting as “I would like to receive news and promotional messages from 2K and its affiliates.” The label may change as the account interface is updated. PC Gamer’s guide provides this interface detail.
- Link the platform account you will use. In SHiFT, connect the account associated with your Borderlands 4 copy—such as your Steam, Epic, PlayStation, or Xbox account.
- Launch Borderlands 4 and log in to SHiFT. Use the same verified SHiFT account. The official offer says this in-game login is part of receiving the skin.
Who is eligible, and what are the limits?
The offer requires a copy of Borderlands 4, a verified SHiFT account, agreement to the Terms of Service, the required 2K and Gearbox newsletter and marketing opt-in, and an in-game login with that SHiFT account. It is for users aged 18 or older, is void where prohibited, and is limited to one redemption per SHiFT account. The official page currently gives the offer end time as 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on December 31, 2030. Check the official terms for any changes.

The official page says to allow up to a week for in-game rewards to arrive. Its separate general note that end dates for SHiFT-code email rewards appear in the emails applies to those code rewards; it does not replace the Hazard Pay offer deadline.
Does the game edition or platform matter?
The Hazard Pay instructions require a copy of Borderlands 4, not a particular premium edition. The official FAQ says standard editions include physical console copies and digital versions, and lists Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms. The platform account linked in SHiFT should match the account you use to play. Read the official editions and platforms FAQ.

What to do if the skin does not appear
- Confirm that you saved the newsletter and digital-marketing opt-in in SHiFT preferences.
- Check that the platform account linked to SHiFT is the one associated with your Borderlands 4 copy.
- Make sure you launched the game and logged in using the same verified SHiFT account used for the opt-in.
- Allow up to a week for the in-game reward, as the official instructions advise.
- If it still has not arrived, PC Gamer reports that the in-game login may trigger a reward email and that redemption may be completed through the in-game Rewards menu or the official SHiFT site. This is secondary troubleshooting guidance; the official Hazard Pay page does not specify a detailed missing-reward process.
