To get the Free Spirit Rod in Fisch, complete Merlin’s quest and 100% of the Mineshaft Bestiary, then buy the rod in the Mineshaft for 200,000 C$. “Free” is part of the rod’s name; it is not free to purchase.
How to unlock and buy the Free Spirit Rod
- Complete Merlin’s quest. A January 2026 guide lists this as a prerequisite for reaching the rod.
- Complete the Mineshaft Bestiary. You need 100% completion, not just a partial entry collection.
- Find the rod in the Mineshaft. A January 2026 guide gives the cave location as -314, -864, -81. Treat this as a guide-reported locator; the newer wiki confirms the Mineshaft area but does not list coordinates.
- Purchase it for 200,000 C$. Make sure you have the in-game currency before heading to the rod.
The location, requirement, and price are reported by the January 2026 Beebom guide and the Fisch Wiki, updated September 2026. These are community references, not official developer documentation; requirements may change after game updates.
Free Spirit Rod stats and effects
The Fisch Wiki lists the following rod stats and mechanics:
- Lure speed: 55%
- Luck: 150%
- Control: 0.15
- Resilience: 10%
- Maximum weight: 5,000 kg
- Piercing effect: Adds 6% progress while ignoring progress-speed penalties.
- Bloom mutation: 30% chance, with a listed 5x sell value.
These are wiki-listed game figures, not independent test results. Beebom reports a different Bloom value, so the 5x multiplier here follows the newer wiki listing rather than a separate verification.

Why older Free Spirit Rod guides may not work
An April 2025 Pro Game Guides article described an earlier route: 70% of the Second Sea Bestiary, the Isle of New Beginnings, and a cost of 200,000 E$. Current 2026 references instead place the rod in the Mineshaft, require the full Mineshaft Bestiary, and list the price as 200,000 C$. Use the newer route rather than the older instructions: April 2025 Pro Game Guides route.
