What were the Monty Python Secret Lair drops?
Wizards of the Coast announced two separate drops on July 26, 2024, as part of the Secret Lair In an Elevator Superdrop. Each paired existing Magic cards with names and artwork based on the film.
Vol. 1: five cards
- Prodigal Sorcerer as “Tim the Enchanter”
- Buried Alive as “Bring Out Your Dead!”
- Dismember as “’Tis But a Scratch!”
- Birds of Paradise as “African Swallow” // “European Swallow,” a double-sided card
- Three Visits as “We Want … A SHRUBBERY!”
Vol. 2: four cards
- Door to Nothingness as “The Bridge of Death”
- Ashnod’s Altar as “Sir Bedivere’s Scales”
- Dark Depths as “Castle of Aaargh”
- Marit Lage as “The Black Beast of Aaargh”
The official product description called out the double-sided Birds of Paradise: “This drop even has a double-sided Birds of Paradise that lets you choose between an African and European Swallow.” Wizards of the Coast’s announcement lists the cards and their film-inspired names.
How can you buy them now?
The announced purchase period ran from Monday, July 29, 2024, at 9 a.m. PT through Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PT, or earlier if supplies ran out. Wizards said the limited-quantity Superdrop was available through MagicSecretLair.com. That window is historical, so a current purchase depends on resale listings rather than the original sale.

- Search marketplaces or card retailers for “Secret Lair Monty Python MTG cards.”
- Confirm whether a listing is for Vol. 1, Vol. 2, or specific individual cards; check the exact card names and count against the lists above.
- Compare the finish, condition, and quantity included. Do not assume a listing contains a complete drop unless it explicitly says so.
- Check seller reliability and calculate the total price, including shipping and any applicable fees, before buying.
Current inventory, resale prices, card conditions, and Amazon stock have not been established here. A marketplace listing should not be treated as official or authorized unless that status is confirmed with the seller or platform.
What were the original prices?
Wizards listed each drop at $29.99 USD non-foil or $39.99 USD traditional foil. Those were the announced prices during the 2024 sale, not a current market valuation or a guide to what a resale listing should cost. The announcement does not assess competitive strength, collector value, or resale quality.

- Contents: 1x Atreus, Impulsive Son 1x Kratos, Stoic Father 1x Teferi's Ageless Insight as "Mimir's Ancient Wisdom" (Reversible) 1x Iroas, God of Victory as "Freya, Queen of the Valkyries"
Which volume should you look for?
Choose by the specific cards or film references you want: Vol. 1 has five cards, including the double-sided Birds of Paradise, while Vol. 2 has four, including Door to Nothingness and the Dark Depths/Marit Lage pairing. If comparing resale offers, match the volume and finish first, then weigh condition, seller reliability, and total cost. The two drops are distinct products, not alternate finishes of the same card set.

- Well look who it is! Come in, come in. Don’t mind the robe. “Uncle Deadpool” is just crashing at Secret Lair for a few days. I’m actually doing a little tour of lairs, hideouts, sanctums, and strongholds and leaving ratings online. It’s been a blast.
- But I wasn’t expecting guests. Just, uh, kick back, relax, and . . . don’t sit on my red suit! It’s drying out. But check this out—Secret Lair made me my own Deadpool cards! Isn’t that nice? So pretty. This one even says, “trading card,” so you don’t forget. Anyway, make yourself comfortable and if you need anything, I’ll be in the kitchen making chimichangas.
