Its original gift claim ended on April 30, 2025, and the available sources do not confirm a way to obtain it in Pokémon TCG Pocket on October 8, 2026. Check the game’s Events and Gifts panels for a live rerun; past event announcements are not proof that the card is currently available.
Identify the right Pokédex card
Use the full number 008/P-A to identify the requested card. It is distinct from another Pokédex promo, 004/P-A, which card catalogs list among regular in-game Shop promos. A January 2025 MeriStation report uses the 004/P-A number when discussing the gift campaign, while card listings identify the gift card as 008/P-A. To avoid confusing the two, look for 008/P-A. How the original gift worked—and why that route is over
The original route was a limited-time in-game gift. MeriStation reported on January 20, 2025, that players could claim the Pokédex promo from the gift chest at the top right of the main screen. The card listing gives the gift window as January 20 through April 30, 2025, so that claim period has passed. MeriStation report · Card listing
MeriStation attributed the gift to a worldwide milestone of 40 billion collected cards. That figure is secondary reporting, not an official number verified in the DeNA announcement cited here. MeriStation report

How to check whether Promo 8 is available now
- Open Pokémon TCG Pocket and check the Events panel for a current Promo drop, Wonder Pick reissue, or mission.
- Check the Gifts panel for a live gift claim.
- If a Promo Shop ticket is offered, inspect the card choices in that event’s exchange before spending it; do not assume 008/P-A is included.
- For battle drop packs, check the stated card pool and reward details. A win may not produce a pack, and a pack’s card is random.
The reviewed announcements and listings do not verify a live acquisition route on October 8, 2026. Until an in-game event or current official announcement confirms one, availability remains unconfirmed.
