To get the Rune of Invigoration in WoW Classic Season of Discovery, buy Amaryllis Webb’s Entomology Starter Kit in Swamp of Sorrows, catch three named critter specimens across Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi Highlands, and Desolace, then return them to Webb. One naming wrinkle: since patch 1.15.3, the item called Rune of Invigoration teaches Wyvern Strike.
Collect the three specimens for Amaryllis Webb
This Hunter route is a collection quest, not a drop grind. Start and finish with Amaryllis Webb in Swamp of Sorrows.
- Buy the kit. Find Webb at approximately
/way 25.0 54.2in Swamp of Sorrows and buy the Entomology Starter Kit. Open it to receive a Bug Catching Net and Field Guide. The cited guide does not provide a legible kit price. - Catch an Arbor Tarantula. In Stranglethorn Vale, look near the Lake Nazferiti logging camp and nearby tree stumps, around
/way 45 19. Use the Bug Catching Net on the critter to obtain its specimen. - Catch a Hay Weevil. In Arathi Highlands, search around farm buildings, barns, and stables. Northfold Manor is approximately
/way 31 28; Dabyrie’s Farmstead and Go’Shek Farm are other reported locations. - Catch a Flesh Picker. In Desolace, head to the Kodo Graveyard around
/way 51–52 59and use the net on a Flesh Picker. - Return the specimens. Take all three specimens back to Amaryllis Webb in Swamp of Sorrows and hand them in to receive the Rune of Invigoration.
Coordinates are approximate map directions, not guaranteed spawn points; critters can move. Player comments on Wowhead suggest using /target to locate them, but that is community advice rather than an official instruction. See the route details in the Wowhead Hunter rune guide and the Icy Veins Hunter rune guide.
Why the rune teaches Wyvern Strike
The item is still referred to as Rune of Invigoration in the acquisition route, but patch 1.15.3 changed what it teaches: it now teaches Wyvern Strike rather than Invigoration. Warcraft Wiki records the change as part of the July 9, 2024 patch; Wowhead’s guide likewise uses the Wyvern Strike page title while noting the Rune of Invigoration item name. You can check the patch 1.15.3 notes.

Do not confuse the old Invigoration effect with Wyvern Strike. Icy Veins describes Invigoration as restoring 5% of maximum mana when a pet critically hits with a special ability; that description is not evidence that Wyvern Strike has the same effect.

Wowhead also reports that class runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in the race capitals: Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and Undercity. This may be an alternative if your goal is simply to learn a rune rather than complete the specimen route. The guide’s price display is incomplete, so check the live vendor for the current cost.

The same guide gives a general warning that learning abilities from vendor items can interfere with some rune-related discoveries or quests. It does not establish whether buying this particular rune affects the Webb specimen route. If you want to complete the collection quest or avoid that uncertainty, use the Webb route instead. The broker information and caveat are in the Wowhead Rune Broker guide.
