How to get the rusty sword from Fishing Trawler

Travel to Port Khazard and board Murphy’s Fishing Trawler.

Join a trip and help the team complete the minigame. A trip lasts five minutes, and the activity can be difficult to finish alone, so joining other players is recommended.

After a successful trip returns to the dock, inspect the trawler net to collect your reward.

Check the reward for a rusty sword. If you do not receive one, complete another trip and inspect the net again.
Is the rusty sword guaranteed, and what are the odds?
No. The rusty sword is a possible junk reward, so it may not appear after every trip. The cited item and minigame pages do not establish a reliable drop rate; there is no supported number of trips to expect before receiving one.

Do you need 15 Fishing to get the rusty sword?
The OSRS Wiki’s Fishing Trawler page states that Fishing level 15 is required to receive fish from the minigame. It does not say whether that threshold also applies to junk rewards such as the rusty sword, so the sword-specific requirement is unclear.
Other ways to get a rusty sword
If you only need the item and do not want to rely on Trawler rewards, the Rusty sword page also lists pickpocketing H.A.M. members, killing H.A.M. guards, digging at the Digsite, and searching ogre coffins. The available sources do not establish which method is quickest or most reliable.
