How do you get the secret ending in Black Myth: Wukong?
The route documented by PowerPyx requires four secret-area boss encounters and the Treasure Hunter side quest. The prerequisites can be completed in any order, according to its ending unlock guide. The route is based on third-party walkthroughs published in 2024, rather than official developer instructions.
- Chapter 1 — Ancient Guanyin Temple: Ring all three bells to reach the hidden area, then defeat Elder Jinchi. PowerPyx’s secret-areas walkthrough covers the bell route.
- Chapter 2 — Kingdom of Sahali: Complete the drunken boar questline, defeat the Tiger Vanguard there, speak with the NPC on the cliff, and defeat Fuban. Fuban is the required boss named in the ending checklist.
- Chapter 3 — Treasure Hunter: Complete the Treasure Hunter questline. This is a separate prerequisite, not one of the four secret-area boss fights.
- Chapter 4 — Purple Cloud Mountain: Defeat the Venom Daoist at both encounters to open the secret area, then defeat Duskveil.
- Chapter 5 — Bishui Cave: Complete the Ox’s Five Element Carts questline to open the area, then defeat Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast.
Once those are done, go to the Great Pagoda in Chapter 3. From the Snow-Veiled Trail shrine in the Pagoda Realm, follow the path down and across the wooden bridge. Speak to the little monk upstairs; the cutscene opens the route to Mount Mei. Follow the path to Erlang the Sacred Divinity. These steps are also shown in the IGN video guide.
Complete the Erlang route, then return to the finale
Defeating Erlang leads into the Four Heavenly Kings fight and then a further fight against Erlang Shen. Once that sequence is complete, defeat the Chapter 6 final boss to see the secret ending. Erlang is a required step on the route, but he is not the final step for viewing the alternate ending.

Do I have to beat Erlang before the final boss?
Yes, for the secret-ending route: complete the Mount Mei sequence and defeat Erlang before defeating the Chapter 6 final boss. If you want to make the Erlang fight easier, the ending guide recommends completing Chapter 6 first to obtain stronger story equipment. That is preparation advice, not an unlock requirement.

Yes. If you have already seen the regular ending, choose Continue to return to the point before the final boss. Complete the secret route, then defeat that boss again. PowerPyx confirms in a guide comment that this sequence works in the same playthrough. Do not choose Enter a New Cycle if you want to continue the current save.
