In current retail World of Warcraft, use the portal at Stormwind Harbor’s dock where the boat to Teldrassil used to depart. It may take you to Rut’theran Village or to Darkshore, depending on your character’s timeline. If you arrive in Darkshore, speak to Zidormi to switch to the earlier timeline, then travel to Rut’theran Village and use its portal to Darnassus.
Find the portal at Stormwind Harbor

Go to Stormwind Harbor and look for the portal on the dock associated with the former Teldrassil boat route. The boat was replaced by a portal, according to community route guidance in a Blizzard forum discussion and Wowhead’s transportation guide.

Take the portal and check where you arrive. Under the Cataclysm timeline, the route has been reported to lead directly to Rut’theran Village; in the current timeline, it may lead to Darkshore instead. Warcraft Tavern’s route guide describes both outcomes.
If the portal takes you to Darkshore
Darkshore is a possible destination, not proof that you chose the wrong portal. The route can vary with timeline phasing, as noted in the forum discussion and Wowhead’s guide.

Find Zidormi in Darkshore. Player guidance indicates she is marked on the zone map.

Speak to Zidormi and choose the earlier timeline. A player-authored forum reply from November 28, 2024 describes this route.

Fly to Rut’theran Village, then take the portal there to Darnassus. The same route is described in the Warcraft Tavern guide.
Why the destination can differ
Darkshore and Rut’theran Village are both reported outcomes from the Stormwind Harbor route. The destination depends on the timeline or phase affecting your character; the sources do not establish one destination that applies to every character, quest state, or unusual phase.

If the Harbor portal or Zidormi’s earlier-timeline option is missing, your current phase or quest state may be involved. There is no single confirmed fix for every case in the available route guidance, so check your in-game map and available dialogue rather than assuming the route is unavailable.

Transportation guides also list mage portals or teleports and a Stormshield portal as alternatives. Access depends on your character and circumstances. If you are already in Stormwind, the Harbor portal is the simplest documented starting point.
