For an event at The Oncenter, start with its official arrival instructions: the venue lists a garage at 400–498 E. Adams Street and a parking lot at 400–498 Harrison Street. Both are first-come, first-served, and event rates vary. If your event is elsewhere downtown, follow that venue’s directions first, then use the Downtown Committee’s parking guide to find alternatives.
What parking options are available when attending an event in Downtown Syracuse?
The Oncenter identifies its garage and lot as primary parking accommodations for events at its Convention Center, War Memorial Arena, and Civic Center Theaters. The venue also advises allowing time for traffic and parking. Check its current parking and directions page before setting out; its listed capacities do not guarantee an open space on a particular event date.

| Oncenter Parking Lot | 400–498 Harrison Street, Syracuse, NY 13202 | 290 spaces, including 13 accessible spaces (The Oncenter, accessed 2026) | Ask the venue whether it is suitable if your vehicle exceeds the garage clearance. |
For other downtown locations, the Downtown Committee parking guide lists public lots and garages, including National Grid and One Herald Place lots it identifies as available for special-event parking. Check directly with the operator for current availability, access details, and rates; the guide notes its information can change.
Will your vehicle fit in The Oncenter garage?
Check your vehicle’s total height, including roof racks or other equipment, against the posted restriction: 9 ft 6 in on the garage’s first floor and 6 ft 9 in on the second floor and above. If the vehicle is taller than the upper-floor limit, contact The Oncenter about the surface lot or another suitable option rather than assuming an open space on the first floor.

What should you know about event-day parking rates and availability?
The Oncenter says parking is first-come, first-served, overnight parking is not permitted, and rates vary according to vehicle size, entry time, and event. Event-specific rates are posted on entry signage, so there is no single stable event price to rely on in advance.
The Downtown Committee’s 2026 guide reports on-street parking at $2 per hour with a two-hour maximum. Treat that as guide-reported information subject to change, not a rate guaranteed at every curb or during every event. Read the signs where you park and confirm facility rates with the operator.

Can you get there without driving?
The Downtown Committee lists Centro, the Connective Corridor shuttle, ridesharing, and Veo as alternatives to driving. Centro publishes Park-N-Ride locations and local event service information. These listings do not establish that a particular route or shuttle will run at the time of your event, so check the provider’s current information for your event date:

How to plan your route and arrival
- Confirm the event venue. Use that venue’s current arrival instructions, not a general downtown address. For The Oncenter, consult its official directions and parking page.
- Choose parking based on the venue and your vehicle. For The Oncenter, compare the Adams Street garage and Harrison Street lot; account for the garage clearance if your vehicle is tall. For another downtown venue, check the Downtown Committee guide and confirm details with the facility operator.
- Check the event date’s conditions. Verify parking rates, availability, possible closures, and any event-specific arrival instructions. If using transit or a shuttle, check its schedule for the day and time you need.
- Allow time for traffic and parking. The Oncenter recommends building in extra time; the exact route and traffic conditions depend on your starting point and event date.
