In Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21, get Wind Charges by defeating a Breeze in a Trial Chamber, collecting its Breeze Rods, and crafting each rod into four charges. A player-killed Breeze drops 1–2 Breeze Rods; Looting affects the number.
Where to find a Breeze
Explore the Overworld for a Trial Chamber, an underground structure built around combat challenges. Some Trial Spawners in its rooms spawn Breezes. Activate the relevant encounter and fight the Breeze it produces. Mojang describes the Breeze as a mob found in Trial Chambers in its Tricky Trials update overview.
How to turn Breeze Rods into Wind Charges
- Kill a Breeze. When a player kills one, it drops 1–2 Breeze Rods; Looting affects the drop count, but the official 1.21 notes do not specify an exact Looting bonus range.
- Collect the Breeze Rods and craft each one into four Wind Charges. The complete route is Trial Chamber → Breeze → Breeze Rod → Wind Charge.
The acquisition and crafting details are from Mojang’s Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21 release notes.
How to use a Wind Charge
Use the item to fire a Wind Charge projectile. On impact, it creates a Wind Burst that knocks nearby entities back; a direct hit also deals damage. Players can use the burst to propel themselves upward. The release notes state that a player launched this way accumulates fall damage only below the height where they collided with the Wind Burst.
