To have more than eight Sims in a The Sims 4 household, use the community mod MC Command Center (MCCC) to raise the household maximum, then add or move Sims using MCCC-supported methods. The regular Manage Households and Create a Sim (CAS) interfaces still have an eight-Sim limit, so avoid using them to manage an over-eight household.
What you need to know before expanding a household
MCCC’s FAQ says the standard Manage Households and CAS interfaces are hard-coded to allow eight Sims. Raising the maximum with a mod does not lift that limit in those interfaces, and their usual methods cannot safely add or remove Sims from an over-eight household. This is a mod-based workaround, not an officially supported EA feature.

EA says it does not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific mods, and warns that game updates can make previously working mods incompatible. Check MCCC’s current compatibility information against your installed game patch before installing or updating the mod.
How to add or move Sims into a larger household
MCCC documents three ways to add or move Sims once a household is over the standard limit:

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
- Enable Testing Cheats, then shift-click the Sim you want to add.
- Use the
sim_movecommand. - Use the MCCC Sim menu’s “Maintain Sim” move function.
Follow MCCC’s current installation and compatibility instructions for your game version; menu details can change between releases.
How to edit a Sim without risking the rest of the household
Do not open an over-eight household through standard Edit Households or the regular CAS entry points. MCCC warns that core CAS functions can delete Sims beyond the eighth household member. For appearance changes, use MCCC’s single-Sim “Modify in CAS” option instead.

Update or troubleshoot MCCC safely
- Check the installed game version and MCCC creator’s compatibility information before updating either one.
- If the game behaves unexpectedly after a patch, follow EA’s troubleshooting guidance: disable mods and test the game, then exit without saving.
- Check whether MCCC has a compatible update. Re-enable mods in Game Options, restart the game, and confirm that the mod works before continuing with the affected household.
The available compatibility information does not establish that any particular MCCC release works with the October 2026 game patch. Verify the creator’s current notes rather than assuming an older release is compatible.

No. The separate Stay Over limit mod is for guest stays, not permanent household members. Its Mod The Sims listing says it requires Growing Together and raises the Stay Over guest limit to 50. The listing reports compatibility with game version 1.116.223 as of July 13, 2025; that dated information does not establish compatibility with a later patch.
