How to Heal in The Nether in Destiny 2

Use a healing loop, verify it in The Nether, and pair health restoration with damage prevention. July 2025 updates mean older healing advice may be out of date.

In The Nether, build around a healing loop, then watch your health bar to see which effects actually help your character. Familiar healing options are a useful starting point, but historical player testing found uneven results in the activity—and Destiny 2 changed its Health and healing systems in July 2025.

Start with a healing loop that fits your build

Bungie’s Creating a Good Build guide recommends investing in Health, healing armor mods, and a subclass healing loop. Its examples include Solar Restoration and Void Devour. Healing weapon perks such as Heal Clip and healing-focused Exotics such as Crimson and Assassin’s Cowl are other options.

These are general build suggestions, not a guarantee that each effect works at its usual strength in The Nether. Choose an option that suits your class and play style, then check whether it restores health during the activity.

Check what your chosen effect does in The Nether

A solo Hunter report posted February 5, 2025, described very different results among healing sources. The player said health regeneration and some weapon effects felt strong, healing orbs and Ruinous Effigy’s Transmutation Sphere Draining Guard were significant, while Devour, Recuperation, and some other effects did not noticeably heal. The author noted that the test covered only what they could try on Hunter; it was not an official Bungie mechanic guide or a comprehensive test of every class and source. Read the player’s report.

Use your health bar as the practical check: activate or trigger the effect and observe whether it restores health under the conditions you face. A result from one class, build, or date does not establish how the effect works for every player.

Account for the July 2025 healing changes

Older Nether advice needs context because Bungie changed the Health system and healing values after the February 2025 player report.

  • Health and Orbs of Power: Bungie’s July 15, 2025 Update 9.0.0.1 notes say the Health stat replaced Resilience and grants 0–70 healing from an Orb of Power across Health values of 1–100. The notes also reduced Devour healing from 200 HP to 140 HP. These are general tuning figures, not stated Nether-specific amounts. See Update 9.0.0.1.
  • Recuperation: Bungie’s July 10, 2025 developer update reduced its healing from an Orb of Power from 70 to 15. This is another reason not to rely on an older report as a current measure of Recuperation’s value. See the developer update.
  • Speaker’s Sight: Update 8.2.0.2 fixed its healing turret healing more than intended in The Nether. The note confirms a past adjustment but does not give the current exact healing value. See Update 8.2.0.2.

Prevent damage as well as restoring health

Healing has to keep pace with incoming damage. Bungie’s build guide also points to survivability options such as Overshield, Amplified, Frost Armor, and Woven Mail. These complement healing by helping you withstand danger rather than relying only on health restoration.

Your class abilities can also support survival in different ways. Bungie’s Your Guardian: Subclasses, Abilities and Gear guide describes a Warlock rift as able to heal or empower the Warlock and allies, while Hunter dodge and Titan barricade provide other utility.

What is not established about Nether healing

The available official notes do not provide a current, complete table of healing amounts or restrictions in The Nether for every subclass, weapon, armor perk, and class. The detailed activity-specific account is a limited February 2025 Hunter test, and later Health and healing updates may affect how older observations apply. Exact current behavior for each source in the activity is therefore not established by these sources.
