You can hide a specific Steam game’s playtime and achievement activity from other people by marking the game Private. Steam’s documented controls change who can see the information; they do not provide a way to erase existing playtime or reset achievements. A refund will not clear either record from your Steam Community Profile.
Make one Steam game private
Use the Private setting when you want to hide a particular game’s ownership, playtime and activity from other users. Steam says the setting is available in the Steam Client while it is online and connected, and can also be changed from the browser-based Community Profile games list. In the client:

- Open your Library and find the game.
- Right-click the game, or open its details page and select the gear icon.
- Choose Manage, then mark the game Private. Steam also lists privacy controls in the game’s Properties.
Steam describes the effect as hiding “your ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity in that game.” The game remains in your Library. It will no longer appear on your Community Profile games list or recently played section; friends will not see its status or activity, including achievement unlocks, in activity feeds; and profile showcases will not display the game or its achievements. Private does not guarantee anonymity inside every multiplayer game. Steam notes that your Steam ID may still be visible to other players on the same server in games using Steam matchmaking. A friend you invite may also see your in-game status until you leave or disconnect.

Private and Library Hide do different things
Steam’s Library Hide function is for organizing your own Library view; it is not the setting for hiding playtime from other people. To find games you have hidden, choose View > Hidden Games. To restore one, right-click it and choose Manage > Remove from Hidden. Steam Support documents these steps under Games Are Missing from my Library.
Can you erase playtime or reset achievements?
The official Steam guidance cited here documents ways to hide game information, not a supported way to erase a game’s existing Steam playtime or reset its achievements. Marking a game Private changes its visibility; it should not be treated as a reset.

Refunding the game does not remove these profile records. Steam’s Common Refund Questions answers the question directly: “No, playtime and achievements will not be removed from your Steam Community Profile.”
When to change your overall profile privacy
If you want to limit profile information more broadly rather than hide one game, use Steam’s profile privacy settings. The available overall states are Public, Friends Only and Private, with additional subcategories. Steam Support explains the options and controls in Steam Profile Privacy.

Deleting your Steam account is an account-wide action, not a targeted way to remove one game’s records. Steam says deletion permanently removes game licenses, your Community Profile, wallet funds, inventory items and other associated information. The process requires proof of ownership and enters a 30-day queue, during which you can cancel; once deletion is complete, it cannot be undone.
