The third-party Windows app Deceive says it can change the presence shown to Riot friends, but it is not an official Riot feature.
What VALORANT’s built-in privacy settings actually hide
To conceal your Riot ID during a match, open Settings → General → Privacy. Riot lists two options there: Hide your Riot ID from players outside your party and Use generic names for players outside your party. These settings affect how your identity appears to other players outside your party; they are not an appear-offline switch for your friends list.

Riot’s support article, “Anonymizing Your Riot ID”, explicitly says: “This feature does not hide your Riot ID from your Friends list.” That statement concerns ID visibility, not presence masking.
Can you appear offline to Riot friends?
Riot’s published VALORANT privacy guidance does not describe a built-in control for appearing offline to friends. If your aim is to avoid being seen online or receiving invitations, the distinction matters: hiding your name in a match will not make your Riot presence disappear.

Riot also says linked Riot friends can see Riot status and activity details in the social panel when accounts are linked with Discord. Its Discord account-linking guide documents that visibility, but does not say unlinking Discord is a general appear-offline solution.
Using Deceive to change your displayed presence
Deceive is a third-party Windows application whose project site says it changes the presence sent through the Riot client, so friends see the user as offline. This is the developer’s description, not an official Riot feature or an independently verified guarantee.

- Visit the project’s official site and inspect the current download and version before installing anything.
- Follow the project’s current instructions for launching Deceive with VALORANT and choosing an offline status from its tray menu. The interface and steps may change between releases.
- Check the current Deceive releases for version and status-configuration notes; compatibility can depend on the tool and Riot client versions.
Deceive’s site says that friends cannot initiate a standard invite while you appear offline, while chat and invites you initiate continue to work. Treat those details as the project developer’s stated behavior; they have not been independently verified here. Riot’s retrieved guidance does not confirm Deceive’s safety or approval, so do not mistake the project’s own claims about Riot’s rules for Riot’s endorsement.

Use the in-game controls if you only want identity protection in matches. If you need to appear offline to friends, Riot’s documented settings do not provide that control; Deceive is a third-party alternative with the compatibility, trust, and invitation trade-offs described above.
