What Nomifactory GTCEu requires
Nomifactory CEu is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2. It is a fork of Nomifactory built around GregTech: Community Edition (GTCEu) and related mods. Treat the Minecraft version, Forge build and pack release as one compatibility set: a client on a different release can fail to connect even when the server itself is online.

The project listing shows several server releases. The newest listed file is 1.7.7-server, dated January 5, 2026. The preceding 1.7.6-server upload is dated December 24, 2025, named nomi-ceu-1.7.6-server.zip, and is approximately 214.5 MB. Older entries include 1.7.3-server from October 2024 and 1.7a-server from September 2024. Select a release deliberately and record its date before you install it.
The exact Forge build and GTCEu build for 1.7.7 are not established in the available listing information. Older package information shows GTCEu 2.5.4 for pack version 1.5.2, while a 1.7-alpha-3 changelog mentions an update to GT 2.8.* and integration of Nomi Labs. Do not copy either older value into a new installation: inspect the selected release’s manifest, changelog or included instructions.

For a first server or a group that wants to play immediately, managed hosting avoids the most failure-prone installation work. Self-hosting is appropriate when you already administer a machine and need direct access to scripts, configuration and world files.
Managed hosting: the quickest route

- Choose Nomifactory GTCEu from the modpack list.
- Create the server and confirm the selected pack release.
- Use the provider’s control panel to start the instance, then give every player the same pack version in the CurseForge launcher.
The listing recommends 6 GB of RAM. That is a recommendation for the hosted configuration, not a measured guarantee for every number of players or world.

- Search the modpack catalogue for Nomifactory.

- Wait for installation to finish before starting the server and copying its address to players.
The listing states a 4,000 MB minimum RAM, a 3 × 4.5 GHz minimum CPU specification and 35 GB minimum SSD storage. These are listing requirements, not a performance test. Storage needs rise as the world, logs, backups and player data grow.

Those pages may be about two years old, so verify the currently offered pack version, Forge build and memory policy before ordering. A stale listing should not override the requirements of the server-pack release you actually download.
Managed-host checklist before inviting players
- Write down the exact pack version and release date shown in the panel.
- Install that same version in the CurseForge launcher for every player.
- Confirm the server has completed its first start and is shown as online.
- Check the panel’s console for a completed Forge startup rather than assuming that an installed file means a running server.
- Set an automated backup schedule if the panel provides one, and periodically test that a backup can be restored.
- Read the provider’s current storage, CPU and upgrade limits; the figures above come from individual listings and are not a common industry standard.
Self-hosting with the official server pack
1. Select and download a specific release
Use the official Nomifactory CEu project on CurseForge and select a file labelled as a server pack. The listing currently identifies 1.7.7-server as the newest listed release (January 5, 2026). If that file is unavailable to your launcher or you need the previous release, 1.7.6-server is listed as nomi-ceu-1.7.6-server.zip at about 214.5 MB. Keep the downloaded archive and its release date; this makes later troubleshooting and rollback possible.
Do not mix files from 1.7.6 and 1.7.7. A world, configuration directory or mod jar copied between releases can produce missing-mod errors or change machine recipes. If you change versions, make a complete world backup first and treat the new release as a separate installation until it has been tested.
2. Create a clean server directory
Make a dedicated directory for the server rather than unpacking into a general Minecraft or downloads folder. Give the account running the server read and write access to that directory. Keep the original archive outside the live directory so that you can verify which release was installed and re-create the server if a configuration file is damaged.

Unpack the server archive without renaming individual mod, config or script files. Server packs are assembled as a set; deleting a file because its name looks client-only can prevent Forge from loading the pack.
3. Install the Forge build specified by the pack
Nomifactory CEu is a Forge 1.12.2 pack, but the exact Forge build for the newest release is not stated in the available listing information. Read the selected server pack’s included instructions, manifest or changelog and install that build. Do not substitute a current Forge installer intended for another Minecraft version, and do not assume that the Forge build used by an older Nomifactory release is still correct.
The first launch normally creates or updates server files. Follow the pack’s included start script or README rather than inventing a different launch command. If the script names a Java executable or a memory setting, keep those values in the script so future restarts use the same configuration.
4. Set memory deliberately

These figures are guidance from hosting listings, not a controlled benchmark. Reserve memory for the operating system and other services; assigning all physical RAM to Java can make the machine less stable. Increase the allocation only after checking the server log and operating-system memory use. More RAM cannot repair an incorrect Forge build, a mismatched client or a slow CPU.

5. Complete the first start and agreement files
Let the supplied start process run once so it can generate its configuration and world directories. If it creates an EULA file, open that file, read the agreement and set the required acceptance value before starting again. Keep the EULA file and generated configuration inside the same server directory; moving only the world folder to another installation can leave you with mismatched configs and mods.
6. Use the pack’s mode switcher when required
The project description mentions a pack-mode-switcher script for CurseForge downloads. It should be run from the pack root, the directory that contains the /config folder. If your download includes this script and its instructions call for it, run it from that root rather than from a parent directory. Running it elsewhere can leave the intended mode changes unapplied.

7. Make the server reachable
For a home server, allow the server process through the host firewall and forward the TCP port configured in the server’s properties to the machine running Minecraft. Use the exact port shown in that configuration instead of assuming a value from another installation. Players outside your network then connect to the public address and that port; players on the same local network may use the machine’s local address.
If your internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, ordinary port forwarding may not work. In that case, use a provider or a tunnel service that you trust, or host the server on a machine with a reachable public address. Do not publish your home address in a public community without considering the privacy implications.

Installing the matching client
Every player must use Minecraft Java 1.12.2, the same Nomifactory CEu release and the same Forge-compatible profile as the server. A launcher profile that merely has a similar name is not sufficient. When a managed provider offers a version selector, copy that exact version into the CurseForge launcher. For a self-hosted server, distribute the release name and date to players and avoid sending them a partially modified client directory.
- Remove or disable extra mods that are not part of the selected pack.
- Do not update individual mods independently unless the pack’s release notes explicitly require it.
- Keep client configuration changes separate from the server’s authoritative configuration.
- If a player receives a missing-mod or registry error, compare the two release versions before changing Java or network settings.
Updating without destroying the world
- Record the current release, Forge build and date.
- Stop the server cleanly and make a complete backup of the world, configuration and server scripts.
- Read the target release’s changelog and verify its Forge requirement; do not infer GTCEu’s version from an older release.
- Install the new server pack in a separate directory first.
- Copy the backup world only after the new installation starts successfully with its own files.
- Have one player test log-in, machines, inventories and automated systems before switching everyone over.
- Keep the old directory until the new world has been backed up and accepted by the group.
The 1.7.7 listing is newer than 1.7.6, but “newest” does not automatically mean “safe to drop onto an established world.” Release notes and included migration instructions take priority over a version number.
Troubleshooting the common failures
The server starts, but players cannot join
- Confirm the server is fully started in the console, not merely installed.
- Compare the player’s Minecraft, Forge and Nomifactory versions with the server’s recorded release.
- Check the configured TCP port, firewall rule and router forwarding.
- Test from inside the host network and from an external connection to distinguish a local firewall problem from an internet-routing problem.
Forge reports missing mods or registry differences
Stop changing individual jars. Reinstall the exact server pack release and give the player a clean client profile for that same release. Mixing 1.7.6 files with 1.7.7 files, or using an older GTCEu build because it appeared in a previous listing, is a more likely cause than a memory setting.
The process exits during startup
- Check that the selected Forge build is for Minecraft 1.12.2 and is the one specified by the pack.
- Review the first error in the log rather than the final shutdown line.
- Verify that the Java process has permission to read and write the server directory.
- Check available system memory against the amount assigned to Java; leave headroom for the operating system.
- Restore the last known-good backup if a configuration edit caused the failure.
Players report lag or delayed machines
Record when the delay occurs and whether it affects everyone. Check CPU load, allocated memory, free disk space and the server log before increasing RAM. The available hosting guidance spans 4,000 MB minimum to 7 GB recommended, but no published player-count benchmark establishes a universal value. A world with heavy automation can need different resources from a small exploration server.
The mode switcher changes nothing
Run the included script from the pack root containing /config. If it was launched from a parent folder, unpack the archive again, confirm the directory layout and repeat the operation according to the pack’s instructions.
Operational checklist for a stable server
- Record the pack release, Forge build and installation date.
- Keep scheduled world backups and at least one copy off the server machine.
- Test restoration before a major update, not after a failure.
- Restrict administrative permissions to trusted players.
- Review logs after updates and remove obsolete installations only after rollback is no longer needed.
- Tell players when the server will restart and which release they must install.
- For a public server, monitor storage growth and set a clear process for moderation and recovery.
No named organisation has published a player-count or adoption statistic for Nomifactory CEu in the available material, so choose hardware from your own measurements rather than a claimed “maximum players” number. Use a managed host if you want the least setup: select Nomifactory, verify the release and give players the matching CurseForge profile. Self-hosting is viable when you need complete control, but download the official server pack, install the Forge 1.12.2 build it specifies, keep memory within the published 4–7 GB guidance, configure networking and maintain tested backups.
