Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons TiC Edition is a Minecraft Java modpack, not a separate dedicated game. Its official CurseForge project is maintained by dreams01 and describes the pack as “Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons meets Tinker’s Construct. Officially!” The variant is centered on Tinkers’ Construct while retaining the exploration-heavy design of the original pack.
The official project listing targets Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge. Its latest listed client release is R.A.D-T.C.E. 1.03. The corresponding server download is named RAD-TiC-Serverpack-1.03. A server running another RAD generation is not interchangeable with this one, even if the names look similar.

The pack is built around exploration, dungeon crawling, quests, multiple dimensions, bosses, magic, dragons, scaling difficulty, and Tinkers’ Construct tools and armor. Those systems generate substantially more world content than an unmodded 1.12.2 server, so world generation, storage and backups deserve attention from the first launch.
Choose between self-hosting and a managed host
Self-hosting means you administer the operating system, Java installation, server files, firewall, port forwarding, backups and updates. It is the most portable option: the world save and configuration remain on hardware you control. It also requires you to diagnose crashes and connection problems.

Prepare a self-hosted machine
Use a dedicated directory and supported Java
Create a new directory used only for this server. Keeping the pack separate from other Minecraft instances prevents accidental mixing of mods, configuration files and world saves. A desktop, home server or rented virtual machine can work, provided it has enough CPU time, memory, storage and a stable network connection.
The indexed official pages do not publish a complete Java-version matrix for this archive. Before starting the server, read the server-pack readme and use the Java runtime it specifies. Check the active runtime with java -version. If more than one Java installation is present, make sure the launch script resolves to the intended executable rather than silently using an older or newer one.

Allow room for the generated world
R.A.D-T.C.E. creates modded terrain, structures, dimensions and configuration data. Keep free disk space beyond the initial archive size for the world, logs, crash reports and at least one backup copy. There is no authoritative benchmark in the project listing for required RAM, CPU model or maximum player count, so treat any number advertised by a host as a provider-specific figure rather than a universal guarantee.

Download the correct server pack
- Open the official CurseForge project page for Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons TiC Edition.
- Open the project’s file listing and locate the Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server-pack artifact.
- Download
RAD-TiC-Serverpack-1.03. Confirm both the TiC Edition name and the 1.03 release before saving it. - Do not download a similarly named standard RAD server pack, a RAD2 pack, or a pack from a different Minecraft generation. Those files contain different mods and are not valid substitutes.
- Place the archive in the dedicated server directory and extract it there. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the archive; do not move individual mods into a separate installation.
The archive’s readme is the authority for its launch-script filename, Java notes and any platform-specific instructions. Do not guess a script name from another modpack.
First launch: EULA, properties and the Forge server
Accept the EULA
Run the included server launcher once. The first run normally creates files and stops while requesting Minecraft’s EULA acceptance. Open eula.txt, read the agreement, change the setting to eula=true only if you accept it, save the file, and run the same Forge launcher again. Never download a replacement EULA file or copy one from another server directory.
Review server.properties
Before inviting anyone, open server.properties. The exact available keys depend on the 1.12.2 server software, but these are the settings most owners should check:

Make changes while the server is stopped, then restart it. Gameplay settings cannot correct a mod or Forge mismatch; those problems must be fixed on the installation itself.

Start Forge and wait for world creation
Use the launch script included in RAD-TiC-Serverpack-1.03, not a vanilla minecraft_server.jar. Keep the console visible during the first start. Forge and the pack will create libraries, configuration files and the initial world; this can take considerably longer than later starts. Wait until the console reports that the server is ready before connecting.
Stop the server from its console with the normal stop command rather than closing the window. An orderly stop flushes region files and reduces the chance of a corrupted world after first generation.
Make the server reachable from the internet
On a home network
- Give the host computer a stable local address, either with a DHCP reservation in the router or a correctly configured static address.
- Allow the Java process through the operating system firewall on the profile used by the server.
- Create a router port-forwarding rule for the
server-portvalue inserver.properties, pointing to the host computer’s local address and the protocol required by the server. - Find your current public address from your router or internet provider. If it changes, provide players with the new address or use a dynamic-DNS service you trust.
- Test from a network outside your home, such as a phone hotspot. Testing only from inside the same LAN can hide port-forwarding or carrier-grade NAT problems.
Some internet providers do not offer an inbound public address. In that case, port forwarding cannot work normally; use a managed host or another networking solution rather than repeatedly changing Minecraft settings.
On a rented virtual machine
Open the same server port in the provider’s external firewall or security group as well as in the operating system firewall. Keep the machine patched, restrict administrative access, and avoid running the server as a privileged operating-system user. A virtual machine gives you public reachability but does not remove the need for backups and log monitoring.
Prepare every player’s client
Each player must install the exact R.A.D-T.C.E. 1.03 client profile, targeting Minecraft 1.12.2 with the matching Forge setup. The simplest approach is to use the same launcher and release entry for everyone, then let the launcher install the pack’s mods and configuration files.

- Install or open the launcher that distributes the official TiC Edition project.
- Select the R.A.D-T.C.E. 1.03 release, not a similarly named RAD or RAD2 profile.
- Confirm that the launcher reports Minecraft 1.12.2 and the Forge target used by the server pack.
- Launch the client once in single-player or the launcher test mode so that libraries and configuration files finish downloading.
- Connect only after the server owner confirms that the server has completed its first world generation.
Do not add optional mods, remove mods, copy a friend’s partially modified configuration folder, or let one player update independently. A client can appear to start normally and still be rejected when it performs the server’s mod-list handshake.
Diagnose connection failures systematically
Change one variable at a time and compare the server log with the player’s client log. The following order catches most failures without destroying a working world.

Keep the exact error text and the timestamp when asking for help. A Forge handshake error, a Java exception and a network timeout require different fixes.

Several providers document support for this exact pack. CreeperHost has a dedicated R.A.D. TiC Edition page identifying R.A.D-T.C.E. 1.03 and describing automated preparation from a CurseForge pack. Its page lists 4,000 MB minimum RAM and 35 GB SSD; those are that provider’s published figures, not a universal performance guarantee for every player count or world.
Legion Hosting lists the exact pack and offers multiple memory tiers. VeryGames documents a server-installation process and tells players to create a launcher instance matching the server version. In all cases, select the TiC Edition 1.03 entry explicitly and confirm the installed files or startup console before inviting players.

A managed panel can simplify installation, but it does not make client version drift harmless. Every player still needs the same R.A.D-T.C.E. 1.03 profile and matching Forge/Minecraft target.
Backups, updates and safe administration
Back up before the first group session
Stop the server cleanly, copy the entire world folder, and retain the corresponding configuration and modpack version information. Store at least one copy outside the machine that runs the server. Test a restore on a separate directory before you rely on the backup.
Do not update piecemeal
When a newer TiC Edition release eventually appears, treat it as a coordinated migration: archive the current server, obtain the new server pack, create a test copy of the world, and have every player update to the same client release. Never replace a few mods inside a live 1.03 installation because a filename appears newer.
Protect access
- Use the whitelist for a private group and grant operator privileges only to trusted administrators.
- Keep operating-system and Java security updates current while respecting the Java version required by the pack.
- Do not publish console logs containing private addresses, tokens or administrative details.
- Monitor disk space so world saves and logs cannot fill the filesystem.
- Use scheduled restarts only after confirming that the host’s scheduler sends a graceful stop and start.
How to decide which route is right
- Choose self-hosting if you are comfortable with Java, firewall and router administration, want direct access to files, and can provide reliable backups and uptime.
- Choose managed hosting if friends need a public server quickly, you do not want to troubleshoot port forwarding, or you value a control panel and support more than minimum recurring cost.
- Use a test instance first if you are unsure about Java compatibility, world-generation load or a provider’s exact pack entry. Test with the same release your group will use, then migrate the verified world.
The non-negotiable rule is version alignment: server archive, Forge/Minecraft target, mods, configurations and every player’s client must describe the same R.A.D-T.C.E. 1.03 installation. Once that baseline is correct, networking and performance problems can be isolated without confusing them with mod mismatches.
