To host TNP Limitless 8 successfully, use the matching LL8 server-files release, run it on 64-bit Java 21, and allocate at least 8 GB of memory. The pack author recommends 12 GB or more because 8 GB is only a boot minimum. LL8 currently targets Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, so every connected player must use the same Minecraft, NeoForge and modpack versions.

What TNP Limitless 8 requires
TNP Limitless 8 is a very large modpack. Its CurseForge project page describes approximately 880 mods, 36 quest chapters and about 2,245 quests. Those figures explain why an LL8 server needs substantially more resources than a small vanilla world.
| Component | Current requirement or guidance | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 | The server and every client must use the same game version. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge | LL8 is built for NeoForge; a Forge, Fabric or different NeoForge installation will not match. |
| Java | Java 21, 64-bit | The pack author specifically instructs users to set their launcher to Java 21. |
| Memory | 8 GB minimum to boot; 12 GB or more recommended | Exploration, world generation, additional players and compatible extra mods can increase usage. |
| Server package | The LL8 server-files release for your chosen pack version | Client profiles and server files are not interchangeable. |
The 8 GB and 12 GB figures are the pack author’s published guidance, not an independent benchmark. Treat 8 GB as a hard floor for starting the process, not as a comfortable operating target.

Choose the correct LL8 release
Start at the official TNP Limitless 8 project on CurseForge and select the server-files artifact that corresponds to the exact LL8 release you want to run. CurseForge lists server files separately from the client pack.
Keep one version number everywhere
Record the release number before downloading anything. Use that same release for the server archive and for every player’s client profile. Do not combine a newer client with older server files, or vice versa. A mismatch can produce a failed handshake, missing-mod errors or a disconnect during login.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Use the supplied server package
The server-files archive contains the intended directory layout and launch material. Building a server by copying files from a client installation can leave out server-only files or introduce client-only mods. Download the server artifact rather than trying to reconstruct it manually.
Prepare the machine
Install 64-bit Java 21
Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime on the computer, VPS or dedicated machine that will run the server. The author’s project guidance says the launcher should be on Java 21. Older Java majors can prevent the server from starting even when the files are correct.
Verify the runtime from a terminal or command prompt:
java -version
The output should identify Java 21 and a 64-bit runtime. If the command reports another major version, install Java 21 or change the server script so it calls the Java 21 executable explicitly. On systems with multiple Java installations, checking the version in the same account that will run the server avoids a common “works in my terminal” mistake.
Reserve memory for the operating system
Do not assign every gigabyte of physical RAM to Minecraft. The operating system, Java process, file cache and monitoring tools need headroom. For a 16 GB machine, for example, a 12 GB maximum leaves room for the host system; the right value depends on what else the machine runs.
Choose a dedicated folder
Create a separate folder for the LL8 server, such as an application directory on your SSD or NVMe volume. Keep the world, configuration, logs and backups together but outside your general downloads folder. Avoid cloud-synchronized directories, which can lock files while the server is writing them.

Install the LL8 server pack step by step
- Download the matching server files. From the TNP Limitless 8 CurseForge project, select the LL8 server-files release that matches the client release you recorded.
- Extract the archive. Unpack all files into the dedicated server folder. Preserve the directory structure; do not place the contents several levels deep inside another archive folder unless the supplied instructions require it.
- Check the Java path. Confirm that the supplied start script or command uses Java 21. If the host has several Java versions, edit the script to point to the Java 21 executable rather than relying on the system default.
- Run the supplied start script. Launch the script included with the server files. On a graphical desktop, run the platform-appropriate file; on a VPS, execute it from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly.
- Accept Minecraft’s EULA. The first run normally creates or updates an EULA file and stops. Open that file, read the license, change the acceptance value only if you agree, save it and run the start script again.
- Wait for a completed startup. The console should finish loading the modded server and indicate that it is ready to accept connections. The first launch can take longer while files and world data are created.
- Stop cleanly before configuration changes. Use the server console’s normal stop command rather than closing the window or killing the process. A clean stop reduces the risk of world corruption and ensures pending data is written.
The extraction and EULA sequence is standard Minecraft server administration. The pack-specific part is using the LL8 server-files artifact and its supplied launcher with Java 21.
Set memory for real players
How much RAM does TNP Limitless 8 need? The project author says “Minimum ram is 8 gb” and warns not to go lower; that amount is only to boot. The same guidance recommends “12+ gb” and says to allocate more when possible.
Recommended Free Tools
| Group size | Published provider guidance | Practical interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 players | 6–8 GB | Use at least 8 GB because the pack author’s boot minimum is higher than the low end of this provider range. Leave additional headroom if the machine allows it. |
| 5–15 players | 10–12 GB | 12 GB is a sensible starting point for a lightly customized server. |
| 15 or more players | 12–16 GB | Monitor actual use and plan for more memory when players explore, generate chunks or add compatible mods. |
The group ranges come from Dedicated Minecraft Host; the 8 GB floor and 12 GB recommendation come from the LL8 project page. Neither source presents an independent laboratory benchmark.
Choose an initial allocation
- Small private server: Start at 12 GB when the host has enough total RAM.
- Larger group: Start at 12–16 GB and watch memory use during simultaneous exploration and world generation.
- Heavily customized server: Reserve more than the baseline if you add compatible mods or increase activity, then validate stability rather than assuming a fixed number.
Set the allocation in the supplied launch script or panel. Keep the minimum and maximum values consistent with the amount you intend to reserve, and change one resource setting at a time so you can identify what improved or worsened performance.
Configure networking safely
Home-hosted server
Players outside your home network need a route to the machine running Minecraft. Configure the host firewall to allow the server process, then configure the router or gateway to forward the Minecraft listening port to the server’s local address. Give the server a stable local address so a DHCP change does not silently break the forwarding rule.
Do not publish the endpoint before authentication, permissions and backups are ready. Share the address only with invited players, and restrict operating-system, panel and file-transfer access to trusted administrators.

On a VPS or dedicated server, open the Minecraft port in both the provider’s network firewall and the operating system firewall. Confirm that the service is bound to the intended interface and that administrative services are not exposed unnecessarily. A provider’s DDoS protection can help with hostile traffic, but it does not replace application permissions, strong credentials or regular backups.
Test reachability
- Start the server and verify that it reaches its ready state.
- Connect from the host itself or the same local network to confirm the server is functioning.
- Test from an external network, such as a phone hotspot, to verify router, firewall and provider rules.
- Give players the address only after the external test succeeds.
Install the client pack for every player
Each player should install the same TNP Limitless 8 release through CurseForge or another launcher that supports the pack. Set the instance to Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge, and ensure the launcher uses Java 21.

- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
Ask players not to add, remove or update individual mods unless everyone agrees to the same change. Even a seemingly harmless client-side edit can alter the mod list or versions enough to fail the connection check. Keep a written record of the server’s release number and any approved customizations.
What to compare when someone cannot join
- LL8 release number on the client and server
- Minecraft version: 1.21.1
- NeoForge version expected by that LL8 release
- Java major version: 21
- Presence, absence and exact versions of manually added or removed mods
- Server address, port, firewall and router reachability
Backups and routine administration
Make restorable backups
Stop the server cleanly before copying the world and configuration data for a periodic backup. Retain more than one restore point so a corrupted or unwanted change does not overwrite your only usable copy. Store at least one copy outside the live server machine.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Test a restore
A backup is useful only if it can be restored. Periodically copy a backup to a separate test directory, start it with the same LL8 server release and verify that the world loads. Do not test by replacing your production world without a second backup.
Back up before changes
Create a fresh restore point before updating LL8, changing NeoForge, adding mods, editing world-generation settings or allowing a large group to explore new terrain. Keep the old server files until the updated instance has run reliably.
Watch the signals that matter
- Memory usage during startup and peak activity
- Console errors and repeated mod warnings
- Storage capacity and backup size
- Player disconnects during exploration or chunk generation
- Unexpected growth in startup time after a pack or configuration change
Troubleshoot the most common failures
The server will not start
Run java -version from the same account and directory used by the launch script. If it is not Java 21 or is not 64-bit, correct the Java installation or script path. Confirm that the archive was extracted completely and that you are launching the supplied server command from the server folder. Read the first meaningful error in the console rather than only the final shutdown message.
The process starts and immediately exits
Check whether the EULA file was created and accepted, then run the script again. Verify that the allocated memory is available on the host; assigning more RAM than the machine can provide can cause the operating system or Java process to terminate. If the console names a missing file, re-extract the matching server archive into a clean directory.
The Tool Desk

Compare the exact LL8 release, Minecraft 1.21.1 setting, NeoForge version, Java 21 runtime and mod lists on both sides. Remove manually added or removed mods, or apply the identical change to every client and the server. Do not try to solve a version mismatch by changing unrelated server settings.
Players cannot reach the server
Test locally first. If local access works, check the host firewall, router forwarding, stable local address, provider firewall and the port players are using. If local access fails, fix the server binding or startup problem before changing router rules.

Performance degrades during exploration
Observe memory use and console warnings while players generate new terrain. LL8’s size, player count, exploration and additional compatible mods can all raise demand. Increase available memory only when the host has headroom, and investigate repeated errors or storage pressure instead of masking them with a larger allocation.
The world is damaged after a crash
Stop the server, preserve the current directory for diagnosis and restore the newest known-good backup to a separate location first. Confirm that the restored world starts before replacing production data. If no tested backup exists, avoid repeated launch attempts that could overwrite recoverable files.
Self-hosting versus a managed LL8 host
Self-hosting gives you control over files, launch arguments, mod changes, backups and the physical location, but you are responsible for Java, firewall rules, uptime, storage and recovery. A managed host trades some control for a panel, network infrastructure and support.
| Decision factor | Self-hosted computer, VPS or dedicated machine | Managed modpack host |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Uses hardware or a recurring VPS/dedicated-server bill; electricity and upgrades may matter for home hosting. | Recurring plan cost; compare the included RAM, CPU, storage, backups and cancellation terms. |
| Setup | You install Java, extract files, configure networking and maintain the service. | Usually a panel-based install with provider-managed infrastructure. |
| Control | Full access to scripts, files, logs and compatible customizations. | Depends on the provider’s panel, file-transfer access and policies. |
| Network protection | You configure firewall, router and any DDoS mitigation yourself. | Some providers include network protection, but coverage and limits differ. |
| Backups | You design, store and test them. | Check whether backups are included, how many restore points exist and whether restores are self-service. |
| Scaling | You resize the machine or migrate the server. | Often an in-panel RAM or plan upgrade; verify downtime and upgrade policy. |
| Support | You diagnose Java, mods, storage and networking. | Support quality varies; confirm that the plan supports LL8 and modpack troubleshooting. |

Can you run TNP Limitless 8 on a dedicated server?
Yes. A dedicated server is a suitable deployment when you need predictable CPU and memory, several simultaneous players or control over networking and storage. The pack still requires the same fundamentals: the matching LL8 server-files release, Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, Java 21 and at least 8 GB available to boot. In practice, reserve 12 GB or more and leave operating-system headroom. Dedicated hardware does not remove the need for backups, version matching or firewall security.
Pre-launch checklist
- Server files and clients use the exact same LL8 release.
- Server runs Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge.
- Java reports a 64-bit Java 21 runtime.
- At least 8 GB is available; 12 GB or more is preferred.
- EULA acceptance is completed.
- Firewall and router or VPS rules allow only the required game traffic.
- Administrative credentials and file-transfer access are restricted.
- A clean backup exists and a restore has been tested.
- At least one external-network connection test succeeds.
- Players have matching launcher profiles and no unapproved mod changes.
The Bottom Line
Use the official LL8 server-files release, Java 21 and Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. Treat 8 GB as the boot floor, start at 12 GB or more when possible, and keep version matching, network security and tested backups as part of the server setup—not as afterthoughts.
