Check your Unturned build first. A summary of the Unturned wiki says listen servers are supported only in classic Unturned and cannot be hosted in Unturned version 3. The current build and Hamachi version are not established in the available instructions, so do not assume these instructions apply to every installation.

What this Hamachi setup actually creates
This method creates a listen server, not a dedicated server. The player who clicks Host is also running the game and acting as the server. Friends use Hamachi’s virtual local network to reach that player’s machine as though they were on the same LAN.
- The host must launch Unturned and keep the game session active.
- The host must keep Hamachi powered on, with its client available during play.
- If the host closes the game or loses the Hamachi connection, the listen server is no longer available.
- Friends do not connect to a separate server program; they connect to the host’s Hamachi IPv4 address from Unturned’s Connect screen.
That arrangement is useful for a small private session when everyone can install the same software. It is not a 24-hour server, and it does not let friends play while the host is offline.

Check the Unturned version before you begin
Version compatibility is the most important qualification. The Unturned wiki information summarized for this topic states that listen servers are supported only in classic Unturned and cannot be hosted in Unturned version 3. The current game build number and the version currently distributed through Steam were not established in the available instructions.
Open your game launcher and identify which Unturned branch or build you are running. If it is version 3, treat the Hamachi listen-server method as unsupported rather than repeatedly changing firewall settings. If you are using classic Unturned, continue with the procedure below. If the menu labels differ, stop and confirm the build before applying older launch-parameter advice.

What every player needs
Before creating a network, confirm that the host and every joining player have the basic software in place:
- Hamachi installed on each computer.
- The same compatible Unturned build installed on each computer.
- A working internet connection for Hamachi’s virtual network.
- Permission to allow Hamachi and Unturned through the computer’s firewall when prompted.
- The host’s Hamachi IPv4 address, which friends will paste into Unturned.
Hamachi network credentials and the Unturned game password are separate. The Hamachi name and password control entry to the virtual network; the password configured in Unturned’s Host options controls entry to the game. Keep the two credentials distinct when you share them.
Step-by-step: host a classic Unturned listen server over Hamachi
1. Install Hamachi on every computer
Each player, including the host, needs the Hamachi client. Finish installation and start Hamachi before trying to create or join the Unturned session. Everyone must be using a working Hamachi client; installing it only on the host is not enough because the joining computers need access to the same virtual network.

2. Create a password-protected Hamachi network
- On the host computer, open Hamachi.
- Use Hamachi’s option to create a new network.
- Choose a network name and a password.
- Give the exact name and password to the players who will join.
Hamachi treats the network name and password as case-sensitive, and spaces matter. Copy the values exactly. A capitalization change, an omitted space, or an extra space can prevent a friend from joining even when the network appears to have the right name.

Each friend opens Hamachi, chooses the option to join an existing network, and enters the host’s network name and password. Confirm that every expected player appears in the same Hamachi network before opening the game. A player who is still in a different network cannot use this method to reach the host.
4. Copy the host’s Hamachi IPv4 address
- On the host’s Hamachi client, locate the host computer’s displayed IP number.
- Right-click that address.
- Select Copy IPv4 address.
Use the copied Hamachi IPv4 address, not the host’s ordinary home-network address and not an address typed from memory. The Connect screen initially shows “Localhost”; friends will replace that text with the copied IPv4 address.
5. Start Unturned and configure the host session
- Launch Unturned on the host computer.
- Select Play.
- Select Host.
- Set the available session options, including any game password you want to require.
- Click Host to start the listen server.
Leave Unturned running after the session starts. Because this is a listen server, the host’s active game process is the server process. There is no separate background service keeping the world available.
6. Have friends connect from Unturned
- On each joining computer, open Unturned.
- Select Play, then Connect.
- In the address field, replace Localhost with the host’s copied Hamachi IPv4 address.
- Enter the game password if the host configured one.
- Submit the connection attempt.
Friends should remain connected to the same Hamachi network while they play. If the host changes networks, exits Hamachi, or closes Unturned, the address will no longer lead to an available listen server.

Which passwords and addresses are used where

Confusing these values is a common cause of failed connections. A friend can be inside the correct Hamachi network and still be rejected by Unturned if the game password is wrong. Conversely, the correct game password cannot help a player who joined the wrong Hamachi network.
Firewall permissions
A firewall can allow Hamachi to run while still blocking the game’s inbound connection. If a friend cannot connect, check the firewall on the host first. Allow inbound connections for both Hamachi and Unturned, following the prompts or rules provided by the operating system’s firewall.
Apply the rule to the network profile that Hamachi is using, and avoid disabling the entire firewall as a first response. If a security product presents separate private, public, or application rules, make sure the Hamachi virtual adapter and the Unturned application are permitted. The exact dialog names depend on the operating system and security software, which were not specified in the available instructions.
Troubleshooting: friends cannot join
Confirm the Hamachi network membership
Have the host and the affected player compare their Hamachi windows. Both should be in the same network, not merely logged into Hamachi separately. Re-enter the network name and password carefully if the player is in a different network. Remember that capitalization and spaces are significant.
Copy the IPv4 address again
On the host, right-click the Hamachi IP number and choose Copy IPv4 address again. Paste the result into the friend’s Unturned Play > Connect address field, replacing “Localhost.” This removes transcription errors and prevents a friend from using an old address.

Check the game password
Verify the password configured in Unturned’s Host options. Do not substitute the Hamachi network password unless the host deliberately used the same text. If the host changed the game password after starting the session, restart or reconfigure the session as required by the available Host menu.
Check firewall access on the host
Allow inbound traffic from Hamachi and allow Unturned through the host’s firewall. A friend who sees the correct Hamachi network but receives a timeout can still be blocked locally on the host.
Keep both host applications running
The host should keep the Hamachi client powered on and the Hamachi window available while playing. Unturned must also remain open. This workflow does not provide a server that survives when the host quits.
Check the address and port together
Recheck the address and any port value shown by the game or required by the setup. One older guide mentions port 25444, but that number was not verified as current and should not be treated as a universal Unturned requirement. Do not hard-code it solely because an older tutorial lists it; use the value exposed by the compatible build and its Host settings.

“Localhost” means the computer making the connection. If a friend leaves that value unchanged, Unturned attempts to find a server on the friend’s own computer rather than on the host’s Hamachi adapter. Only the host is supposed to run a local listen server in this arrangement. Every other player must replace “Localhost” with the host’s Hamachi IPv4 address.

Limits of a non-dedicated Hamachi session
- Host dependency: the host’s game process is the server, so the world is unavailable when the host leaves.
- Build dependency: the documented listen-server support is associated with classic Unturned; version 3 compatibility is specifically disputed by the Unturned wiki summary.
- Network dependency: every player must remain in the same Hamachi network and retain connectivity to it.
- Firewall dependency: local inbound rules must permit both Hamachi and Unturned.
- Address dependency: friends need the host’s Hamachi IPv4 address in the Connect screen, not “Localhost.”
These limits are inherent to the method, not signs that a dedicated server has been configured incorrectly. If you need a world that stays online without the host playing, this listen-server procedure is the wrong architecture; the available material does not establish a current dedicated-server setup for your specific Unturned build.

Older launch-parameter fallback
An older Steam guide describes a different route using a shortcut to Unturned.exe with launch parameters such as -batchmode -nographics +secureserver/name. It then instructs the administrator to edit the generated Commands file for the server name, map, port, and password, keep the server window open, and type shutdown to stop it.
That guide is labeled Partially Outdated. Treat it as a fallback for an older, compatible installation rather than as the default Hamachi procedure. The guide’s parameters, generated-file behavior, menu support, and port assumptions may not match the build you have installed. Confirm that your version supports the secure-server command before creating shortcuts or editing files.
When the fallback is reasonable
- You are deliberately running a classic or older build for which the guide’s command-line behavior is documented.
- The normal Play > Host menu is absent but the build’s server documentation explicitly supports the secure-server command.
- You are prepared to keep the server console open and stop it with
shutdown.
When not to use it
- You are on Unturned version 3 and have no evidence that the command is supported there.
- You are following the guide only because a port or file name appeared in an old tutorial.
- You need a current, maintained dedicated-server workflow but have not verified the required files and commands for your build.
Host checklist before inviting players
- Confirm the Unturned branch or build and whether classic listen hosting is supported.
- Install and start Hamachi on every computer.
- Create a Hamachi network with a case-sensitive name and password.
- Have every friend join that exact network.
- Copy the host’s Hamachi IPv4 address using Hamachi’s Copy IPv4 address command.
- Start Unturned and open Play > Host.
- Choose the session options and game password.
- Allow Hamachi and Unturned through the host firewall.
- Keep Hamachi and Unturned running for the entire session.
Player checklist before connecting
- Join the host’s exact Hamachi network, matching capitalization and spaces.
- Open Unturned and choose Play > Connect.
- Replace “Localhost” with the host’s current Hamachi IPv4 address.
- Enter the Unturned game password, not merely the Hamachi password.
- If the attempt fails, ask the host to recopy the address and recheck firewall access, network membership, and any applicable port.
Bottom line
For a compatible classic Unturned build, Hamachi can provide a straightforward private LAN path: create one Hamachi network, host the game from Play > Host, and have friends connect to the host’s copied Hamachi IPv4 address through Play > Connect. It remains a host-run listen server, so the host must keep both applications running. Verify the Unturned version first, because the documented support does not extend to version 3.
