To increase the number of worker Pals allowed at each base on a dedicated Palworld server, edit BaseCampWorkerMaxNum in the active PalWorldSettings.ini file, save it, and restart the server. On Linux the active file is Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini; on Windows it is Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini.
Prefer not to run the server on your own PC? Godlike.Host offers hosted Palworld servers with free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day.
The current Pocketpair server guide lists 50 worker Pals per base as the maximum. A current PalDB extraction identifies 15 as the shipped default. Raising the limit also raises processing load, so increase it in steps and watch server performance rather than jumping straight to 50.

What the max-Pals setting controls
BaseCampWorkerMaxNum sets the maximum number of worker Pals that can be assigned to one base. It does not increase the number of bases a guild may own and it does not change the player slot limit.
- Worker Pals per base:
BaseCampWorkerMaxNum - Bases per guild:
BaseCampMaxNumInGuild - Players who can join the server:
ServerPlayerMaxNum
If a base stops accepting Pals at 15, that is normally the shipped value of BaseCampWorkerMaxNum, not a problem with your guild or player-cap settings. The current PalDB extraction, from build 4570950001 on September 15, 2026, reports 15 as the default. Pocketpair’s current server documentation lists 50 as the maximum per base.

Before editing: stop the server and identify the active file
Stop the dedicated server completely before changing the configuration. The server reads its settings during startup; editing while it is running can leave the process using the old value and can also allow a later shutdown to overwrite your edit.
The file that matters is the copy in the saved configuration directory, not the template in the installation directory:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Linux:

Use the path that matches the operating system running the dedicated server. A local game installation on another computer is irrelevant; the setting must be changed on the machine that launches the dedicated server.
If the saved file does not exist
Some installations do not create the active file until the server has been started. If the appropriate PalWorldSettings.ini is missing, copy the shipped template from:
steamapps/common/PalServer/DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini

Paste the copy into the matching saved directory and name it PalWorldSettings.ini. On Linux, the destination is the LinuxServer directory; on Windows, use WindowsServer. The official guide specifically instructs administrators to edit the active saved file. Editing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini itself does not apply the change to the running server.
Make a backup of the active file before editing it. Keep the backup outside the server’s saved-config directory or give it a different extension so the server does not mistake it for another configuration file.
Step-by-step: raise the worker-Pal limit
- Stop the dedicated server. Use the normal stop control in your service manager, hosting panel, or server console, and wait until the process has exited.
- Open the active configuration file. Select the
LinuxServerorWindowsServerpath shown above, depending on the server operating system. - Find the single
OptionSettings=(...)line. Palworld stores the options in one long line rather than a separate line for every setting. Use your text editor’s search function forBaseCampWorkerMaxNum. - Replace only the number. A newly created file commonly contains
BaseCampWorkerMaxNum=15. Change it to the value you want, such asBaseCampWorkerMaxNum=20orBaseCampWorkerMaxNum=30. Do not remove the key, its equals sign, the surrounding parentheses, commas, or any other option. - Stay at or below the documented cap. The current official guide lists 50 as the maximum worker Pals per base. A value above 50 is outside that documented limit and should not be treated as supported.
- Save the file in plain text. Confirm that the filename remains exactly
PalWorldSettings.ini, rather than gaining an extra extension such as.txt. Keep the rest of theOptionSettings=(...)line unchanged. - Restart the server. Start the dedicated server again so it reloads the saved configuration.
- Test in game. At a base, assign worker Pals until you reach the new value. Confirm the limit on the server that was restarted, not on a different local or previously running instance.
Example of the edit
Before:
OptionSettings=(...,BaseCampWorkerMaxNum=15,...)
After setting a 30-Pal limit:
OptionSettings=(...,BaseCampWorkerMaxNum=30,...)
The ellipses above represent the other options already present in your file; they are not text to insert. In the real file, leave every existing option and delimiter in place and change only the number assigned to BaseCampWorkerMaxNum.
Choosing a value: 15, 20, 30, or 50
There is no published hardware-to-value chart or universal safe setting. The official documentation only establishes that increasing the value raises processing load, while PalDB identifies higher worker counts as a common cause of base-camp lag. Use the table as a planning framework, not as a benchmark.
| Setting | Worker slots per base | Change from shipped default | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|---|
15 |
15 | Baseline | Current PalDB extraction reports this as the shipped default. |
20 |
20 | 5 additional slots | A modest increase; it still adds processing work, so observe the server after restarting. |
30 |
30 | 15 additional slots | A substantial increase in workers; monitor CPU, memory, tick rate, and player reports closely. |
50 |
50 | 35 additional slots | The current documented maximum per base. No source provides a guarantee that every server can run this value smoothly. |
More worker slots do not automatically make a base more productive. They give the base permission to keep more worker Pals assigned. Actual workload also depends on how many bases exist, how many Pals are active at each base, and how complicated those bases are. The available sources do not provide controlled measurements by CPU model, memory size, player count, or base design, so any claim that a particular value is safe for a particular specification would be guesswork.

A practical escalation approach
- Start with 20 if the default of 15 is too restrictive.
- Restart and let players use the bases under normal conditions.
- Check CPU utilization, memory use, server tick rate, and reports of delayed or stalled base activity.
- If performance remains acceptable, consider 30 and repeat the same observation period.
- Treat 50 as an upper-bound experiment, not a target that every server should use.
Change one variable at a time. If you raise the worker limit and alter several other server settings simultaneously, it becomes difficult to identify which change caused a performance problem.
How the setting affects server performance
Pocketpair’s server guide states: Increasing this value raises processing load.
Each additional worker can create more activity for the dedicated server to track. PalDB likewise describes raising the worker limit as a common cause of base-camp lag.
After every increase, watch the server during the busiest period you can reproduce. Useful observations include:
- CPU usage: whether the process remains heavily loaded when several bases are active.
- Memory usage: whether consumption keeps climbing or approaches the machine’s available memory.
- Tick rate and responsiveness: whether world updates, input, or interactions feel delayed.
- Base behavior: whether worker Pals pause, take unusually long routes, or fail to complete jobs.
- Player reports: whether multiple players notice lag at the same time, especially when several bases are operating.
These checks help you decide whether to keep the new value or reduce it. They are monitoring criteria, not a substitute for a published benchmark; no source establishes a universal hardware requirement or a guaranteed safe worker count beyond the documented cap.
If lag appears after the change
- Stop the server before editing the file again.
- Lower
BaseCampWorkerMaxNumto the previous known-good value, or reduce it in a smaller step. - Save the active file and restart.
- Recheck performance with the same bases and player activity that exposed the problem.
Reducing the limit does not require deleting Pals. It changes how many worker Pals the base may support; the immediate goal is to return the server to a responsive state and then decide whether a smaller increase is worthwhile.

Settings that are often confused with the worker limit
BaseCampMaxNumInGuild: number of bases
This option controls how many bases a guild can have. Pocketpair’s current guide lists a default of 4 and a maximum of 10 bases per guild. Changing it will not allow more workers at an individual base. If the problem is that one base cannot accept a sixteenth Pal, this is the wrong key.
ServerPlayerMaxNum: player capacity
This option controls how many players can join the server. Raising it does not increase worker slots at a base. A server can have plenty of player slots and still enforce a 15-Pal worker limit, or have a higher worker limit while retaining the same player capacity.

The template and active files serve different purposes. DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini is the shipped starting template. The server uses the copy under Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer or Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer. If you edit only the template, restart the server, and still see 15 workers, the active file was never changed.
Troubleshooting a limit that still shows 15
The file is missing
Stop the server, copy DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini into the correct saved-config directory, rename the copy to PalWorldSettings.ini, and then make the edit. Verify that the destination matches the operating system running the server.
The change was made in the template
Reopen the active saved file and search its OptionSettings=(...) line. The value there, not the value in the default template, is the one to check.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
The server was not restarted
Stop and start the dedicated server after saving. A live process may continue using the previous settings until it reloads the configuration at startup.

The wrong installation is running
When several Palworld installations or instances exist, confirm which one launches the server and which saved directory belongs to it. Edit that instance’s active file, then test by connecting to that same server.
The setting was accidentally damaged
Compare the edited line with your backup. Restore the original line and make a one-number change while preserving the enclosing OptionSettings=(...) syntax and all commas. A clean text editor is preferable to a word processor, which may add formatting that changes the file.
The value is higher but performance is worse
That result is consistent with the documented processing-load trade-off. Lower the value, restart, and compare the same workload again. There is no official hardware table that can override what your server observes in practice.
Using a managed Palworld server
Managed Palworld server hosting panels often provide a configuration editor instead of direct filesystem access. The controls vary by host, but the underlying setting is still BaseCampWorkerMaxNum. Look for an advanced Palworld settings or raw INI editor, change that key, save, and perform the host’s full server restart. If the panel regenerates configuration files, ask the host which saved PalWorldSettings.ini it treats as authoritative.
Do not assume a host panel’s slider can safely exceed the official limit. The current Pocketpair documentation lists 50 workers per base; values above that are outside the documented maximum. A managed host can provide hardware and monitoring, but it cannot remove the processing work created by additional worker Pals.
Quick Recap
