Install both mods on the dedicated server—not on players’ PCs—in this order: Alloc’s Server Fixes first, then CPM. Stop the server, back up the Mods directory and save data, extract each archive so its mod folders sit directly under Mods/, and verify Alloc’s with version before adding CPM. A working web dashboard/map and the cpm-help command confirm that the installation is complete.

What Alloc’s Fixes and CPM do
Alloc’s Server Fixes supplies server-side command extensions, common functions and the web/map API used by administration tools. CPM (CSMM Patrons Mod) adds commands and integration for CSMM and related management workflows. CSMM documentation states that CSMM depends on Alloc’s API, making Alloc’s a prerequisite rather than an optional companion.

Neither package belongs in a player’s local game installation. Shockbyte’s game engineer Jay Miller wrote on October 27, 2024: “As Alloc’s Server Fixes is a server-side only mod, therefore you will not need to install this on your own PC.” Players connect with an unmodified game client unless another client-side mod is separately required by your server.
The installation order matters because CPM calls functions exposed by Alloc’s components. Installing CPM first can leave the server apparently online while CPM commands fail, web assets are incomplete, or startup logs show missing assemblies. Treat the two packages as a dependency chain rather than as unrelated mod uploads.

Before you touch the files
Record the exact game branch
Write down the branch shown by your host or startup script: stable, experimental, or a numbered branch. Mod compatibility is version-dependent and changes when 7 Days to Die updates. An archive made for a different branch can appear to install correctly while failing to load or producing runtime errors. CSMM documentation uses Alpha 21.1 (b16) as an example in verification output; that example is not a universal current requirement.
Also record whether the host uses a special launcher, a Docker image tag or a provider-specific build. A panel may display a friendly label while the server process uses a numbered branch underneath. Keep the exact label and build number with your backup notes; it makes a later rollback much less ambiguous.

- Save the world and shut down the server through the panel or console.
- Wait until the server process has fully exited. CSMM’s useful-scripts documentation warns: “Turn off your server BEFORE updating to prevent data loss.”
- Copy the complete
Mods/directory and the save data to a location outside the live server directory. Includeserverconfig.xmlandserveradmin.xmlif you will change them. - Note the current Alloc’s and CPM versions, web-dashboard port, and any existing web tokens so you can undo a change precisely.
A panel backup is useful only if you know how to restore it. For a self-managed server, keep a dated copy that includes the save folder, not just the mod archives. If the update fails, restoring the known-good Mods/ tree and XML files is faster than trying to diagnose several partially replaced files while the server is still running.
Install Alloc’s Server Fixes
Find the real server root
Use the directory that contains the dedicated-server executable, serverconfig.xml, saves and (after creation) Mods/. A control-panel file manager may open in a home directory rather than this root, so verify the path before extracting anything.
If Mods/ does not exist, create it exactly with that spelling at the server root. Do not create it beside the root or inside the save directory. After extraction, use the file manager’s full path display to confirm that the first child is the mod directory, not another archive folder.
Extract the archive at the correct level
Download an Alloc’s archive that explicitly matches the branch you recorded, then extract it. The three documented components should be direct children of the server’s Mods directory:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

<7 Days to Die server root>/Mods/
├── Allocs_CommandExtensions/
│ ├── ModInfo.xml
│ └── *.dll
├── Allocs_CommonFunc/
│ ├── ModInfo.xml
│ └── *.dll
└── Allocs_WebAndMapRendering/
├── ModInfo.xml
└── *.dll
The archive may include a top-level folder before extraction. Open it and move the three mod directories if necessary. The game must be able to see Mods/Allocs_CommandExtensions/ModInfo.xml, not Mods/Mods/Allocs_CommandExtensions/ModInfo.xml. A doubled Mods path is one of the most common reasons the server reports no mod.
Do not merge an old and new release indiscriminately. If the archive contains updated DLLs, replace the corresponding component as a unit so that ModInfo.xml and binaries come from the same release. Keep the old copy in your backup rather than beside the live copy, where duplicate assemblies can cause confusing load errors.
Check each component before starting
- Every directory has a
ModInfo.xmlfile. - The required DLL files are present and were not blocked or omitted by the archive tool.
- No older duplicate of an
Allocs*directory remains beside the new copy. - File names and capitalization are preserved on hosts where paths are case-sensitive.
- The extracted files are readable by the account that runs the dedicated server.
On a Linux host, an archive extracted by an administrator may leave ownership or permission problems for a service account. You do not need to make DLLs executable, but the server process must be able to read the directories and files. On a managed panel, use its normal upload and extract functions rather than changing permissions blindly.
Verify Alloc’s before installing CPM
Use the version command
- Start the server and wait for it to finish loading.
- Open the host console or an authenticated RCON session.
- Run
version.
CSMM’s example output lists entries such as Mod Allocs_Commands, Mod Allocs_Core and Mod Allocs_Webinterface. Names and component numbers vary by release, so compare the presence of Alloc’s functionality rather than expecting one exact number. The output should also show the TFP dependencies TFP_CommandExtensions, TFP_MapRendering and TFP_WebServer. If Alloc’s entries are absent, stop and fix that installation before copying CPM.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck the startup log as well as the command response. A mod can appear in a directory yet fail during assembly loading because it targets another game build. Look for explicit load, dependency or exception messages, and resolve those before continuing. Running CPM on top of an unverified Alloc’s installation makes the later error harder to isolate.
Test the web dashboard and map
Open the port configured in serverconfig.xml. XGamingServer’s documentation identifies the relevant settings as WebDashboardEnabled, WebDashboardPort and EnableMapRendering. A login page or map response proves that the web component is running and that the port is reachable; it does not by itself prove that CPM is installed.

Where the installed web interface supports it, try the /legacymap path on the same host and port. Use the server’s reachable IP address, not localhost, when testing from another machine. If the page times out, check the host firewall, router or panel port-forwarding rule as well as the XML settings.
Test from outside the server machine when possible. A page that works through localhost can still be inaccessible to CSMM or administrators because the port is bound or filtered internally. Confirm the protocol and port shown by the panel, and avoid exposing an administrative dashboard broadly while you are still configuring permissions.
Install CPM after Alloc’s works
Copy the CPM mod directory
Download a CPM release whose compatibility notes match the same 7 Days to Die branch. With the server stopped, extract the archive and place 1CSMM_Patrons directly in Mods/:
<7 Days to Die server root>/Mods/
├── Allocs_CommandExtensions/
├── Allocs_CommonFunc/
├── Allocs_WebAndMapRendering/
└── 1CSMM_Patrons/
Do not put the folder inside another Mods directory and do not rename it unless the release instructions explicitly require a different name.
Before restarting, compare the resulting path with the Alloc path character by character. The expected CPM metadata should be inside Mods/1CSMM_Patrons/. If the archive created a release-named parent folder, move the actual mod directory up one level instead of moving only selected files.
Preserve the patched map script when using an installer script
The CSMM installation script also moves CPM’s patched map.js into Allocs_WebAndMapRendering/webserver/js. If you install from that script or from an archive that includes the patch, perform that move exactly as documented. Copying only 1CSMM_Patrons can leave commands working while the map interface remains incompatible.
Do not overwrite the web script with a patch from a different CPM release. Keep a copy of the existing file in your backup, apply the version that belongs to the CPM build, and clear your browser cache only after the server-side files match. A stale browser asset can otherwise make a correct server installation look broken.
Restart and run cpm-help
- Start the server and wait for the normal ready message.
- Run
cpm-helpin the console or through RCON. - Confirm that CPM commands are listed without a load or assembly error.
Starting with CPM 5.35, CPM-specific commands use the cpm- prefix. Older aliases may still work, but cpm-help is the clearest test on current installations. If the command is unknown, inspect the startup log and verify the folder, branch and dependency order before attempting another copy.
Configure dashboard permissions and CSMM access
Limit web capabilities in serveradmin.xml
Set permission levels for the web modules in serveradmin.xml. Treat each capability separately: viewing the map, viewing player locations, reading inventories, and executing commands can have very different consequences. On a PvP server, give location, inventory and command permissions only to roles that genuinely need them. After editing, restart the server if your host does not reload administration settings automatically.
Use the least-privilege role that permits the intended task. An administrator who only needs a map does not automatically need inventory access or command execution. Keep a copy of the previous XML before editing, preserve valid syntax, and make one logical permission change at a time so a malformed file can be identified quickly.

Create a dedicated CSMM web token
For CSMM, create a named token from the server console:
webtokens add <name> <token> 0
CSMM documents a minimum token length of 10 characters. Use a unique random value, keep it out of chat logs and public configuration, and remove generic default tokens. If a token is exposed, revoke it and issue a replacement rather than merely changing a panel password.

Give the token a descriptive name tied to its service, not to a person’s password. Store it in CSMM’s secret configuration and never paste it into a public issue, screenshot or repository. Test authentication immediately after creation, then record the token’s purpose and permission level in a private administrator runbook.
Understand what a leaked token can reveal
Depending on the permission level, web access can expose the live map, player positions, inventories, land claims or command execution. Do not publish the dashboard port or token in a public Discord message, repository, screenshot or support ticket. Restrict the port at the firewall when your host permits it, and give CSMM only the permissions its automation needs.

Troubleshoot the failures that matter most
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
No Alloc’s or CPM entries in version |
Wrong branch, nested folders, missing metadata or DLLs | Inspect the exact path for Mods/Mods/, verify ModInfo.xml, restore the matching archive and restart from a clean copy. |
Alloc’s loads but cpm-help is unknown |
CPM was not copied, is nested incorrectly or is incompatible | Confirm Mods/1CSMM_Patrons/, check the release’s branch requirement and read the startup log for assembly errors. |
| Dashboard or map does not load | Web settings disabled, blocked port or wrong URL | Set WebDashboardEnabled=true and EnableMapRendering=true, use the configured WebDashboardPort, open the firewall/router path and test /legacymap where available. |
| Map page opens but assets or functions fail | CPM’s patched map.js was not installed or belongs to another release |
Place the script in Allocs_WebAndMapRendering/webserver/js as required by the installation method and use a matching CPM build. |
| Errors begin immediately after a game update | Alloc’s and CPM are out of sync with the new branch | Stop the server, back up the working installation, read compatibility notes, and update both packages together when required. |
| CSMM authentication fails | Token too short, mistyped, revoked or lacking permission | Create a new token of at least 10 characters with webtokens add, update CSMM’s secret and verify the assigned web permission. |
When troubleshooting, change one layer at a time. First prove that the game loads Alloc’s, then prove the web endpoint, then prove CPM commands, and only afterward test CSMM automation. This sequence distinguishes a file-layout error from a firewall problem or an authentication problem.
Keep the first failed startup log. Replacing files and restarting repeatedly can erase the useful error context, while the original log often identifies the exact component or assembly that failed. If you contact a host, provide the branch, mod versions, path listing and relevant error lines without including web tokens.
Updating without losing a working setup
- Record the current game branch, Alloc’s release, CPM release and configuration files.
- Stop the server and make a fresh backup of saves,
Mods/,serverconfig.xmlandserveradmin.xml. - Read the release notes for the target branch. Do not assume a mod that worked on one numbered branch works on the next.
- Replace or update Alloc’s and CPM according to the compatibility instructions, removing obsolete
Allocs*directories only after the backup is secure. - Start the server, run
version, test the dashboard/map, then runcpm-help. - If any check fails, stop the server and restore the backed-up
Mods/and configuration instead of repeatedly launching an uncertain mix of versions.
Update both packages as a coordinated change when the compatibility notes require it. Updating only CPM or only Alloc’s can produce a partially functional dashboard that is more difficult to diagnose than a clean rollback. Keep the previous archive versions until the new branch has passed all four verification checks.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Automated and containerized installations
For Docker-based servers, the documented automation treats CPM as also installing Alloc’s Fixes. Its scripts choose branch-specific Alloc archives, remove old Allocs* folders and extract the selected components. The CPM script uses the latest GitHub release and requires jq. Automation reduces repetitive copying, but it does not remove the need to pin the game branch, back up saves and inspect the resulting directory tree.
After an automated update, perform the same manual checks: inspect Mods/, run version, open the configured web endpoint and run cpm-help. A script can complete without a useful map if a port is blocked or a map patch was not applied. Review the script’s selected branch and release rather than assuming “latest” means compatible with your server image.
Choosing managed hosting for these mods
Managed hosting is optional. It is useful when you want a panel and file manager, scheduled backups or help with branch changes; it is not required for Alloc’s or CPM. Before choosing a provider, verify these capabilities for the exact 7 Days to Die branch you intend to run:
| Capability | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Panel file access | You must be able to inspect and correct the Mods/ tree and upload DLL archives. |
| Automatic mod/version updates | Convenient only if you can review the selected branch and roll back a bad update. |
serverconfig.xml editing |
Required for web-dashboard, map-rendering and port settings. |
| Web-port and firewall control | The dashboard cannot work if the configured port is unreachable. |
| Backup and restore | Essential before replacing mods or changing game branches. |
| Console or RCON access | Needed for version, cpm-help and webtokens. |
| Support for your exact branch | Alloc’s and CPM compatibility follows the game branch, not just the server’s hardware plan. |
Documentation from providers such as Shockbyte, XGamingServer and Wabbanode illustrates these features, but current plans and support terms change. Confirm them directly before committing, and retain your own backups even when the panel advertises automated snapshots.
Ask a prospective host whether you can upload a custom archive, inspect startup logs and restore individual files. A provider that only offers one-click mod installation may not expose the folder layout or web-port controls required for this setup. Confirm console or RCON access before paying, because those interfaces are needed for verification and token creation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →When the installation is complete
A successful setup has four independent proofs: the Alloc’s components appear in version; the web dashboard and map respond on the configured port; 1CSMM_Patrons registers cpm- commands through cpm-help; and only intended administrators can use the web API. Keep the branch and mod versions recorded so the same checks can be repeated after every 7 Days to Die update.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install Alloc’s Fixes on my gaming PC?
No. Alloc’s Fixes and CPM are server-side packages. Install them in the dedicated server’s Mods/ directory; players normally join with an unmodified client.

Where exactly does the Mods folder go?
Place it at the dedicated-server root, alongside the executable, saves and serverconfig.xml. The expected path is <server root>/Mods/Allocs_CommandExtensions/, not a nested Mods/Mods/ path.
Can I install CPM without Alloc’s?
No. CSMM depends on Alloc’s API. Install and verify Alloc’s first, then add the compatible 1CSMM_Patrons directory.
Recommended Free Tools
How do I know the live map is working?
Enable WebDashboardEnabled and EnableMapRendering, open the configured WebDashboardPort, and test the dashboard or /legacymap path where supported. A reachable map confirms the web component and network path, but CPM still requires a separate cpm-help test.
Why did CPM fail after a 7 Days to Die update?
Alloc’s and CPM releases are branch-dependent. Stop the server, back up the working files, read the compatibility notes, and update both packages together when required. Restore the previous pair if the new branch does not pass the version, web and command checks.
What is the minimum CSMM token length?
CSMM documents a minimum of 10 characters. Create a unique token with webtokens add <name> <token> 0, protect it as a secret and revoke it if exposed.
Why does the map load but look broken?
The CPM-patched map.js may be missing or from a different release. Place the matching script in Allocs_WebAndMapRendering/webserver/js when the installation method requires it, then retest with a current browser session.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIs managed hosting required?
No. You can install both mods on a self-managed server. Managed hosting is simply a convenience; select it only if the panel provides file access, XML editing, port control, backups and console or RCON access for your exact branch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to install Alloc’s Fixes on my gaming PC?
No. Both Alloc’s Fixes and CPM are server-side packages installed in the dedicated server’s Mods directory.
Why must Alloc’s be installed before CPM?
CPM relies on Alloc’s API. Verify Alloc’s with version before adding 1CSMM_Patrons.
How do I fix a Mods/Mods nesting error?
Move the actual mod directories so paths begin with Mods/Allocs_CommandExtensions, Mods/Allocs_CommonFunc, Mods/Allocs_WebAndMapRendering and Mods/1CSMM_Patrons.
What proves CPM loaded?
After restarting, run cpm-help in the console or RCON. Current CPM releases use the cpm- command prefix.
What should I do after a game update breaks CPM?
Stop the server, back up the working installation, match Alloc’s and CPM to the new branch, and restore the backup if version, map or cpm-help checks fail.
The Bottom Line
Install and verify Alloc’s Server Fixes first, then add a branch-matched CPM release. Keep the mod folders directly under Mods/, test version, the web map and cpm-help, and protect dashboard permissions and tokens.
