You can use the Xbox app on Windows to see and launch games installed through supported PC storefronts, including Battle.net. The documented workflow is to install a game through its storefront first; it then appears in the Xbox app’s My Library and Most Recent. For Battle.net installation and game-file actions such as updating or uninstalling, use Battle.net: Xbox’s guidance describes library access and launching, not direct management of Battle.net files.
What the Xbox app can manage—and what it cannot
“Manage” can mean either keeping games together in a library or operating on their installed files. For supported storefront games, Xbox documents the first: the app aggregates installed titles so you can find and launch them. Its guidance does not establish that the Xbox app installs, updates, moves, repairs, or uninstalls Battle.net games.

| Update, move, repair, or uninstall Battle.net game files | Battle.net | The reviewed Xbox guidance does not establish these functions for Battle.net games. Use the storefront that installed the game. |

Install a Battle.net game and find it in the Xbox app
- Install the game through Battle.net. Use Battle.net to choose and install the title. The Xbox app is not documented as a Battle.net installer.
- Open the Xbox app on your Windows PC. Once the title is installed through the supported storefront, Xbox says it should appear automatically in My Library and in the Most Recent sidebar list.
- Select the title to launch it. The Xbox library provides a consolidated way to return to supported storefront games; launching from there does not transfer ownership of the game files to Xbox.
Xbox VP of Experiences Jason Beaumont described this behavior in the September 15, 2025 announcement: “When you install a game from a supported PC storefront, it automatically appears in ‘My Library’ within the Xbox PC app, as well as the ‘Most Recent’ list of titles in the sidebar, so you can jump back into your favorite games with just a click.” Read the Xbox announcement.
Hide storefront games from the Xbox library
If you do not want titles from a particular storefront listed in the Xbox app, use its visibility setting:

- Select your profile picture in the Xbox app.
- Open Settings, then go to Library & Extensions.
- Toggle the listing for the storefront you want to hide.
Xbox says titles from a disabled storefront no longer appear in the Xbox library. This changes library visibility; it is not an uninstall action and does not remove the games from the storefront or PC. Xbox Wire’s September 2025 announcement documents the setting.
Use Battle.net for game-file operations
For updates, uninstalling, moving, or repairing a Battle.net installation, use Battle.net’s own controls. Xbox’s current documented storefront workflow covers discovering and launching installed titles, not managing those titles’ Battle.net files.

Do not treat Xbox’s other management features as proof of Battle.net file support. Xbox has separately described managing add-ons for installed games through a Manage view in the Xbox PC app, but that announcement concerns add-ons and does not say that the view manages Battle.net game installations. Xbox Wire, September 25, 2024.

Likewise, Xbox’s November 2021 article described install-location, local-file, move, and repair features as an Xbox Insider preview for eligible games. That historical preview is not current evidence that those controls apply to Battle.net games. Xbox Wire, November 18, 2021.

What is different on Xbox handheld devices?
Xbox’s April 30, 2026 update describes a handheld-specific option to manually add installed games and apps to the Xbox library regardless of where they were installed. On handheld devices, entries can also be customized with title names, icons, launch options, and advanced launch commands. This update does not establish the same manual-add workflow for desktop PCs generally. Xbox Wire, April 30, 2026.

Troubleshoot a game missing from the library
- Confirm the game is installed. Xbox’s documented automatic listing applies to installed games from supported storefronts.
- Check storefront visibility. In the Xbox app, open Profile picture > Settings > Library & Extensions and make sure that storefront is enabled.
- Launch or manage it in Battle.net if needed. The Xbox listing is a library shortcut; the reviewed guidance does not provide a separate Xbox repair or rescan procedure for Battle.net files.
