For the PC version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, download Eternity Tools from The Citadel’s Eternity Tools page, install it using the prompts, then use XV2 Mods Installer (also called xv2ins) to add mods packaged as .x2m files. The page lists Eternity Tools v4.7 for game versions 1.26 and 1.26.1 as of October 8, 2026; check the listed compatibility before installing, since game updates can change it.
What Eternity Tools does—and which part installs mods
Eternity Tools is a suite of utilities for modding Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Its patcher enables modding functions such as loading files from the game’s data folder and adding characters, skills, and stages. For mods distributed in .x2m format, the relevant utility is XV2 Mods Installer, usually named xv2ins. The project describes it as “A tool to install Xenoverse 2 mods in x2m format” in its source repository.

These steps cover the PC game. The Steam listing identifies DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 as a PC title; the sources cited here do not establish a supported console or Linux/Steam Deck installation workflow.
Before you install
- Make sure the PC game is installed and that you can locate its game directory.
- Check the game version against the compatibility notes on The Citadel’s current Eternity Tools page. As listed there on October 8, 2026, v4.7 supports game versions 1.26 and 1.26.1.
- Read the mod’s requirements. Not every mod uses
.x2mor Eternity Tools; some, including certain packages such as Revamp, may use Lazybone Installer instead. - As a precaution, back up your saves and other important files before changing your game setup. The tool page lists save-related utilities, but does not say that installing mods automatically backs up saves.
Install Eternity Tools
- Download Eternity Tools from The Citadel’s Eternity Tools page. Confirm that the listed build supports your game version.
- Extract the downloaded package and run its installer, following the prompts to choose or confirm the game setup.
- If the installer detects an older Eternity Tools setup, follow its prompt to choose a clean installation or port-over. The current page specifically notes this prompt; do not assume that overwriting an old installation is always the right migration method.
Install a mod distributed as .x2m
- Open XV2 Mods Installer, or
xv2ins, from the Eternity Tools installation. - Choose the installer’s Install option and select the mod’s
.x2mfile. - Confirm the installation when prompted, then allow the installer to finish.
This is the install-and-confirm workflow described by the Nexus Mods installation guide and the Steam community guide. Installed mods occupy slots that can later be removed; check the mod’s own instructions for any additional requirements or setup.

Uninstall a mod
- Open XV2 Mods Installer.
- Select the installed mod you want to remove.
- Choose the uninstall option and confirm if prompted.
If installation does not work
- Check the game directory: Make sure the installer is pointed at the actual Xenoverse 2 installation, not a shortcut or a different game folder.
- Check compatibility: Confirm that your game version matches the compatibility note for the Eternity Tools build you installed. Tool compatibility is version-specific and may change after game updates.
- Check the mod’s format and requirements: XV2 Mods Installer handles
.x2mmods. If the mod specifies Lazybone Installer or another prerequisite, use the workflow its author provides rather than trying to force it throughxv2ins. - Handle an older setup through the installer prompt: If you are upgrading Eternity Tools, use the clean-install or port-over choice shown by the current installer instead of treating older file-copy directions as universal.
